Default FF50th at Road America Coaching Services Available

I got bored with life and decided to go to law school so now I need to make some extra scratch to pay for it. I’ll trade you your dollars for Road America coaching and knowledge. I set the Road America lap record in 2012 and reset it to 2:21.037 in 2013 that still stands. I consider Road America my home track and have coached numerous vintage, SCCA, and pro drivers, albeit over 5 years ago. Need to know where the best showers are? I got you covered. Want the best local racer bar? I got you. Want to know how to get around the track? I got ya there too.

Coaching options include detailed track maps and video prior to the event, and gearing assistance. I have video in numerous FFs; modern, vintage, slicks, treads, in the wet and dry. For those running events at RA prior, I’m open to coaching those and test days.

During the event I’m available for on track ‘follow the leader’ for a few laps as I’ll be running the event (modern Ford/Slicks class), day-of coaching, video analysis, corner coaching for those in a different run group, setup assistance, etc.

I’ll include suggestions for the best cheese curds and frozen custard for those looking for the complete Wisconsin experience.
The downside is I won’t be at the track until Wednesday or Thursday evening, depending on the schedule so I can’t be there for the test day. That might change but I won’t know until the end of August.
PM me for details and options.

Local’s tip: Best pizza is DeO’malley’s in Plymouth. Best cheese curds are at The Gear Box on the hill overlooking T14. Best place to watch is above T13. Best frozen custard is all the frozen custard. Safety tip - take down all easy up canopies over night. Road America can get real windy and at the end of any given weekend the dumpsters will have more than a few of them after being turned into a pretzel.

I welcome you all to Wisconsin!

    Default FF50th coach

This would be a very worthwhile expense for anyone wanting to do a proper job, racing at the 50th.
Reid has shown his skill and knowledge of this circuit a number of times.
If you have never driven the track, to do this on your own and race at your potential, would take a number of years.

Second that. Driver coaches are probably the most underrated way to go faster. James Lee (FL) has helped me tremendously when I've been able to hire him. Knowing Reid's history at this track and remembering that the car he was driving was not known to be anything spectacular (being as nice as possible about his old car), his accomplishments are pretty impressive!

You've clearly never seen how much curd a Wisco guy can chow down.

Save some money and get a private jet for the man.

Mike, I don't know what it is either but he certainly seems obsessed. I'm not sure a PM conversation between us has ever NOT had a mention of the curd....

    Shirley, you must be joking.

Ok....so what's a cheese curd? No, it's not moldy cheese. You take the freshest cheese possible, just after you add the starter culture and it forms the curd. Separate the curd from the whey, throw the little new born curd balls in batter (beer batter for the advance class), and toss that in the deep fryer. That's when the magic happens. Then you may ask, 'how is that different from a mozzarella stick'? A mozza stick is a tasteless cardboard roll compared to a curd.

You've been to Wisco how many times and never had a curd? Bro, we gotta change that.

As a sign of hospitality, I think we need to have a curds and custard intro for the out of towners.

After surviving on RA track food for weeks sometimes, I really don't know much about it. All I really know is that once I get up to the order window, I'm usually overtaken by some farm raised blond beauty taking my order, my mind goes blank and I just order a freaking hotdog.
I'm all over this cheese curd deal. First round is on me. Does it come with marina sauce?

    You gotchur self a deal.

Marinara sauce is occasionally available depending on the dining establishment. At The Gear Box, no. They do have a barbecue sauce that pairs nicely though.

Also, in Wisconsin we pronounce 'hot dog', 'brat'. That's br-ahh-t. Not pronounced like a annoying 7 year old who is behaving badly.

My wife is coming with me, and she has almost zero interest in motor racing. From what I can determine, there is a lot of cheese nearby, but I don't think that will fill her five days. Any suggestions for the ladies?

She likes planes, so a day at Oshkosh will work.

Port Washington is great, especially if Smith Brothers is still around (smoked fish!).

Algoma and Kewaunee are full of coastal charm, too.

The sand dunes at Kohler-Andrae are really nice, if not rare for the area, and the beach there is great. Lakes are easy to find as well, Long Lake is just south and a real gem (even though I almost drowned there when 5).

About 100 miles from the track is Door County, topping them all. Great golfing in many places near the track, and Elkhart Lake itself is sublime.

Per the "five days of cheese" concept, please, never underestimate its powers.

    Default Other things to do

The Kohler Art Museum in Sheboygan was interesting (be sure to check the restrooms!). The WWII submarine Cobra is at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, also in Sheboygan

    Downhillers eat curds.

    Curlers eat poutine.

If you live right, you'll have a Brandy Manhattan with the cheese curds while contemplating what supper club to go to.

    So...

Starting with the simplest question of all for Reid.

    Lamont recommends 19:32 22:30 24:27 26:25 for a 9:31 R&P
    Steve Beeler runs 20:32 22:29 24:27 25:25

What say you, assuming CFF aerodynamics?

    Caldwell D9B - Sold
    Crossle' 30/32/45 Mongrel - Sold
RF94 Monoshock - here goes nothin'
