    Default CDS REGEDIT problem

When I load CDS Trackmaster, it comes up with a message that says; failed to update system registry. please try running REGEDIT. When I look at my data, all but the first two segment times columns are missing. I am no computer pro, so I looked on U-tube, of course. Unfortunately, that didn't help. Does anyone know what I am supposed to edit in the registry? I don't actually find a program called REGEDIT that seems appropriate to this situation.
    Thanks,
    Jim

I don't have CDS, but it sounds like you don't have permissions. Can you try right clicking on the application shortcut and select "Run as admin"? It should have the permissions you need in order to write to the registry then.

Problem is, I don't know what to REGEDIT when I get there.

run the CDS software "as administrator".

Some older software does not behave or conform to the standards set starting with windows Vista. Many developers did not bother. Suspect CDS didn't bother either.

The work around is to install the software in a folder NOT under Program Files (which is protected) and to set the shortcut to RunAs Administrator for elevated rights to access/update things like the registry or data files in the programs folder.

If you run it as an administrator, the program should make the needed registry edits itself. Right now it may not be "allowed" to, which is why running it as an administrator might fix the problem.
