    Default Top speed

    Guys,
An RFR F1000 posted a trap speed of 169 at the VIR SuperTour today....measured by SCCA, somehow....is that possible at VIR ?
    regards,
    Bill

I would say that was an error

    It might be possible.
Years ago a pinto FC was supposedly clocked at 162 at Daytona... working a draft of FAs and a favorable wind.
We had 30 mph steady winds here all day, wonder what the conditions were at VIR.

Every other lap he did had a trap speed in the 133-135 range and the lap where the trap speed was reported as 169 was 16 seconds slower than his fastest lap. . . Yes, I'd say that's definitely an error.

From another forum, the weather was rain, followed by rain, accompanied by rain.

Improbable (I think fastest FB trap speeds when I was there in 2017 were in the 148 range). Next year with the new engine rules maybe not so improbable.

(Oh wait a sec..we're those engine rules for this year? Can't remember. Given up anyway on trying to figure out what the CRB or BOD is/are doing. I'm convinced they are completely clueless about FB. Maybe clueless about everything. Also was JR driving?)

    Definitely wrong.

    High 14x range at VIR.

I think Coop said he say high 16x range at Daytona, but that was trimmed out as much as possibly could be.

Folks if you look at the results, all his other laps had trap speeds in the 133-135 range, the outlier 169 trap speed lap was 16 seconds slower than his fastest lap. Pretty apparent it is a computer glitch, regardless whether or not the CRB or BOD knows what they're doing regarding FB

I saw 158 at Pocono, completely trimmed out, back in 2009. Handled like crap in the infield section.

I dont think any FB has done 169 at VIR. Ever. The fastest section is the back straight and I've never seen an FB over the high 140s. Never a 150. I think Daytona was the highest trap speeds the FBs have seen and they were low 160s.

Okay we have ten "No"s so far. Let's see how many we can reach.

Is that some of that new common core math? I only count 4 by my old school way of countin'

"Trimmed Out" = no diffuser, broomstick front and rear lower wings, no upper rear wing.

The throttle was truly diabolical in the infield section.

    Default Yes 170 is possible

At Daytona 2015 National Championship there were at least 4 FB's that were recorded at 164 and one of them recorded at 170.

I personally saw 168 in one instance in a draft battling with Alex Mayer. Most of the time we were capped out at 160.
