Default Super Vee top end Value - Bertil Roos

Hi - a friend of mine acquired 2 VW Heads (1600 or 1800, I’m afraid I don’t know for certain) and an Intake from a retired compatriot. The cam has “BERTIL” written on it and when I spoke with the original owner many years ago he had mentioned that he had bought the one complete head outright from Bertil’s, the 2nd head has no valves but looks ready for assembly and the cam is there.
the intake manifold is as it was raced and I can’t speak to what injectors at there. I am hoping that somebody here can help out with a value for this stuff, together or separate- we have no idea what it’s worth but hoping somebody knows something! If he decides to sell I will post appropriately but for now this stuff is not for sale, just want to know what it’s worth. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Default FSV heads

You have at least on the picture I saw a 1600 head, an 1800 head would have the water input more to the back of the head. I think the injection is a Haltec not sure of the spelling.

Not Bertil Roos the driver, but Bertil Sollenskog, the engine builder.

The photos at top left and center show a 1.6L head. You can tell at a glance because there is only one oil drain-back port, located at the centerline. The 1.8L engines all have two oil drain-back ports, as shown in this photo.

Thanks Stan - it appears both heads are identical in preparation (except for some fresh machine work in the 2nd head on oil or coolant passages?? See pic below) and are for sure both 1600’s. Also have a set of pistons, but I need to measure them to see what they are.

This is the 2nd head, it is it’s freshly machined and has a Bertil’s cam, no valves or springs.

It's been a long time since I had a FSV, but I'd think there are people who'd be really happy with this find. There must be several (many?) water cooled supervees (and sports racers?) racing in vintage/historic. I know I would have wanted them back in 2005.

Default F/SV 1.6 Cylinder head value

So I have a few data points.
In the last few years I have bought a Schrick 1.6 head, complete less camshaft for $800 and another 1.6 head, also without the camshaft, from previously purchased "Ralt America stock", that was supposedly built by Judd Engine Development, for $1500.

I was just about to make that correction to "Bertil Sollenskog" myself.

To clarify, he died a year or two ago -- so what you have is an ever-rarer gift, he was the best in the biz.
