    Oil cooler blanking plate, just a flat plate?

    They typically incorporate the o-ring from the oil cooler. The o-ring is needed to provide a good seal under the pressure.

    I see the o ring on the stock oil cooler, is there no need for a "passage" in the flat plate?

    I run the same plate as George. No oring in the middle. Just the outer oring

    No. I’m pretty sure it is recessed so the oil can still flow from one port to the other. I don’t have one handy to look at but I’ll try to get a photo next weekend.

    Thank you for checking. It seems to me that the oil flowing through the cooler goes up to the generator and pistons.
    Probably important.

    Default Oil Cooler Block Plate

    If you are running the stock filter with NO adapter, and plumbing the external cooler directly from the oil galleries, it needs to be a block off. If you are using an adapter and remote oil filter housing and plumbing from that, it needs to be dished to allow flow.

    If I understand correctly, using the ports above the oil pan, right side of engine, use the flat plate with O ring. No "passage" needed.

    See picture, I think there is still some confusion. This is the setup to use if you plan on using the stock oil filter, which everyone does because its simpler, cheaper, and lighter than a remote mounted oil filter. Remove the item the blue arrow points at and call Moons super cycle for a oil blockoff plate. ($50). Remove the oil gallery plugs the red arrows point at and buy 2 of these adapters https://www.summitracing.com/parts/VPE-16634 for use of AN-10 fittings and oil line to be plumbed to an oil cooler. Make sure the port labeled "out to oil cooler" is plumbed to the top port of the cooler and the other to the bottom port of the cooler. This way gravity is helping to push oil back into the engine after it runs through the oil cooler.

    Default Oil pump priming

    After you have all this hooked up, you will struggle to get the oil pump primed in order to actually achieve any oil pressure. Do not run the engine until you have at least 10 psi of oil pressure. I found the easiest way to prime the oil pump is to shoot a little bit (15 psi max) of compressed air into the oil breather line that comes out from under the throttle body area. Shoot some air in there while you have a friend hit the starter button to spin the oil pump. Do this 3-4 times for about 10 seconds each time. Remove the spark plug coils so the engine doesn't start while priming. Make sure you have an oil pressure sensor hooked up so you can see that you do have pressure once you actually start the motor.

    Default Smaller oil lines?

    You can probably get away with using AN-8 oil cooler supply and return lines for a little more oil pressure and a small reduction in weight. Both of my cars have used the -10 though so I cant say for sure. What does everyone else use?

    Here is the part number for the adapter fittings that thread into the oil galleries for use with AN-8 oil cooler lines then. They come with new aluminum crush washers, but I always still clean all the threads with Acetone and use Loctite 554 thread sealant for a little more insurance. I'm guessing this may be worth a few extra pounds of oil pressure for a given RPM and half a pound or more of total weight savings compared to the AN-10 setup. The smaller lines will also probably be easier to route in the cramped area that is a F500 engine bay/sidepod.

    I have already plumbed the oil cooler as suggested, was not sure of the proper way to seal the stock oil/water cooler, if a "passage" was required. Did not want to do that wrong! I can fab the plate and O ring groove.
