When I used to fly Phantoms, I was called an AVIATOR.
Now I race cars. So, am I now called a PAVIATOR?

Thanks Jim. I redownloaded it when I arrived at the shop, where I have fiber. Took about a minute and is 1,047,534 KB. We live about 10 miles out of town in the sticks, where the 'trons have to crawl from fence post to fence post.

Stan - yep I finally got it -- had to VPN via Belgium - what gives with using Texas?
Looks like a great set of files.

    Thanks JJ!
Wish I could have gotten over to Bangkok when in SEA to see your works.

    Cheers - Jim

I followed your build log with great interest, JJ.

This is a very generous contribution to the racing community.

    Thanks... ...a lot.

Default Please Fork then Clone, not Download

I really hope this will be an collaborative project, so it's better to "fork" the project than "clone" or "download" it.

    A good explanation is here:
    https://github.community/t5/Support-...tory/ba-p/1372

Downloading it just gets you a copy of the latest version of all the files. There is no future connection between the copy on your computer and the original on GitHub.

Cloning it is like starting your own project, also with changes tracked by Git, but you can't modify my project unless I designate you as a collaborator. You won't be able to automatically get changes that I make to the master branch.

"A fork is a copy of a repository that allows you to freely experiment with changes without affecting the original project. A forked repository differs from a clone in that a connection exists between your fork and the original repository itself. In this way, your fork acts as a bridge between the original repository and your personal copy where you can contribute back to the original project using Pull Requests."

In other words, if you fork the project there will be a copy of the design on your computer. You can modify your copy as you want, and you can put your modified parts back into the master branch on Github by sending me a "pull request". I believe you can also get updates and additions that I make to the master branch.

    So, the recommended flow is:

    1. Create an account on github.com . It's free.
    https://help.github.com/articles/sig...ithub-account/
    2. Download Github Desktop
    https://help.github.com/desktop/guid...ithub-desktop/
    3. Tell Github Desktop about your account at Github.com
    https://help.github.com/desktop/guid...g-the-browser/
    4. Fork my repository, which will make a copy of the project in your account on github.com
    https://guides.github.com/activities/forking/
    5. Clone your forked copy of my repository to make a copy of your github.com repository on your PC
    https://guides.github.com/activities/forking/ (again)
    6. Modify your local files to your heart's content.
    7. When you have something worthwhile, use Github Desktop to "Commit" the changes, which will take
a snapshot of the current state on your personal computer for future rollbacks if necessary
    8. When you love what you've done, use Github Desktop to "Push" it to your github.com repository.
    9. When you are sure your changes are freakin' awesome, go to your github.com repository and click
"Compare & pull request". If I agree, I will make your changes part of the reference design.

If all this is too much, just find some way to show me the modified files (ApexSpeed, Github discussion, your website,
email, etc.) and I'll take a look.

    Hope this helps.

    -JJ

That must be the compressed size. When you unzip it to your computer I expect it will be larger. My copy on my computer currently sits at 1.45 GB.

Can you post STEP file of entire assembly? Having some trouble importing some of the native Solidworks files.

I tried saving the top-level assembly as a STEP file but it's 181 MB. Github only allows 100 MB files without using special tools. I plan on uploading STEP versions of every part & assembly, but that will take some time. Anybody who wants to help could do some of those conversions.

What kind of problem are you having with importing the Solidworks files?

Default My account at Github has been flagged & hidden

Someone has reported my account on Github so it's no longer visible. I have no idea what the problem is; please stand by.

UPDATE 30 Jan.: My account is visible again. Github says it was erroneously detected as spam.
