Default FF50th @ Road America: First Look Pre-Registration List

Here's the first look at who is pre-registered for the FF50th at Road America. Racers in the first block have submitted their Driver & Car Questionnaire (thank you!) and are ready to be assigned to one of the two Formula Ford only race groups. If you find your name in the second block, your questionnaire has not been received. Please get it in right away as the project plan is to publish preliminary race group assignments by the end of this month…that’s just twelve days away!

Racers listed twice have entered two cars. As we are very close to the 200 car limit, second entries on cross-overs (one driver, one car, both race groups) are not likely to be accepted.

I saw that as well! And that's 6 of us from the people that have submitted their survey sheets. Good chance that there might be some more after everyone get's their car information in. I just ordered my new gear sets for the event, getting prepped!

    Default FF50th Entry Composition

Here are some facts and figures from the 85 Driver & Car Questionnaires that I have in hand:

Pre-registrations have been received from 25 states. California (10) and Colorado (9) are at the top of the list. Michigan and Wisconsin are next with 5 each.

The FF will have an international flavor. No surprise that Canada is well represented with 18 pre-registrants. Australia (2) and Mexico (1) will also be represented.

Chassis span the entire 50 years of Formula Ford. At one end of the spectrum, is the Lotus 51A that won the first FF national at Willow Springs back in 1969. At the other end, a newly constructed Listec WIL 013 is coming all the way from Australia.

    The VFF / CFF / FF mix is 33% / 50% / 17%. Treads vs slicks is almost 4 to 1.

Again, these statistics are from only 85 Driver & Car Questionnaires. If you have not yet submitted yours, please do so this weekend. The questionnaire data is being used to make race group assignments. Please help me be successful.

Default FF50th @ Road America: Spectators Welcome!

The FF50th @ Road America is most certainly a spectator event. In addition to Formula Ford's 50th anniversary celebrations, there will be a full weekend of vintage racing, a road course re-enactment, a concours de elegance, and a banquet with Paul Page, the voice of the Indy 500, as the keynote speaker.

Here's the link to RA'S Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival page:

    This is what I'm using:

    18/32
    21/30
    24/28
    24/24

    9/31 final
    Vintage Dunlops
    1981 Zink Z-16

**Full disclosure** I've never been there, this is a conversion to my setup and some slight tweaks from someone that suggested the ratios to me based on running slicks and a more modern car.

With an older non-aero car I would run 25/26 4th. Unless, your engine will not pull on the top end.

Are you considering the 100 car draft along the front straight with that suggestion?
