There was supposed to be a release of the 2019 schedule and notes from the meeting posted Friday. As I recall it is Road Atlanta, WGI, MO, VIR, Pitt, Summit and NJMP. FRP is back under SCCA Pro sanctioning. Currently, two races in FRP count as one of three required starts for Runoffs. (I am pressing SCCA to count each race in FRP as a credit towards a Runoffs start.) Other than those items there really was nothing earth shattering. Hopefully FRP will get the information out asap.

Patience, all. The schedule will be released by Monty shortly. The formal notes from the meeting will be emailed out and posted here when I get a chance to clean up the typos :-). I just got home from from the show.

Why would a "Pro" race entry count towards an amateur championship entry qualification?

It counts because SCCA (club) wrote a rule that allows it to count, same as with Trans Am.

    Well that makes perfect sense.

I'm not sure why I even asked.

    Robert, I'll answer this one.
Robby, Right Coast will run on FRP dates at Mid Ohio, Pitt Race and Summit Point.
Mid Ohio June 28-30, Pitt Race either Aug 2-4 OR Aug 9-11, just not locked in quite yet, Summit Point Aug 23-25.
The balance of the Right Coast schedule for 2019 is NJP-Lightning June 1-2 and Rd Atlanta Nov 1-3.

It would be great if you can get SCCA to allow one FRP Race as a credit towards a Runoffs start. It would do so much for the class as a whole.

Will there be anything in the notes allowing a racer to run a Bias Ply tire.

In the past we have allowed pre 1997 Pintos to run a bias tire. I think it’s safe to say we’ll consider it going forward on a one to one basis. We haven’t seen a Pinto in the paddock in years.

    Bob,

I know when you ran the Indy weekend you allowed zetecs to run Bias ply tires on numerous cars. I get that was a one off but I think if John can get it passed with in SCCA that one of your races will go toward a Runoff qualifying weekend, you will get a big draw from guys, myself included.

Wth that said if I only run Mid Ohio for instance as a Runoffs qualifier I am not sure I want to go through the hassle of setting my car up for radials when I will only be running bias ply tires the rest of the year.

Well...I understand the desire, but (yes, there is always a 'but') the bias tire is generally considered quite a bit faster. Indy was unique. Also, as far as I know the set up change is not all that difficult; primarily camber and shock settings (but no need to re-valve).

    Sanctioning:
FRP is rejoining SCCA ProRacing. Our Roots are with SCCA, the insurance is better, and we will haveaccess to SCCA’s media outlets. Part of the benefit - one FRP weekend willcount towards Runoffs qualification (same structure as Trans-Am). Additionalnew opportunities with SCCA Pro are being explored.

New Series Radio Sponsor is Speedcom:Speedcom utilizes digital radios, and will offer a trade-in policy for analogradios towards new Motorola CP200D radios — trade-in value based on the radiocondition. Analog radios will continueto be usable to monitor race control, but it is the intention to have thepaddock all digital within a couple of years. There are many advantages to thedigital platform both for the Series and the competitor — far better communication is primary. Speedcom intends to be in the paddock for service and parts at most of our events.

Rules Review: As we did last year, we are designating January as Rules Review Month. Everyone is invited to submit suggestions tomake our rules package better for 2019. In the interest of consistency, our intent is not to change any rulesduring the season (although, as always we reserve the right to do so), thus getyour suggestions in during January.

Registration: We are holding entry fees the same as last year, and will have a window for a discounted Full Series F2000 and F1600entry in late January.

Details and entry instructions to follow.
