    Default Why this is important

The organizers of Right Coast have been working with the Atlanta Region since last year (2017) to create the proper platform to host the FF 50th at Road Atlanta in November of 2019.

To a certain degree Atlanta Region is monitoring what level of participation The folks at Right Coast can generate at this year's ARRC to decide for certain if they can safely set aside the needed run groups to insure a 50th on the scale of the FF 40th.

We are hoping that many FF drivers will enter this year's ARRC to show the Atlanta Region that there will indeed be a real field for the FF 50th in 2019.

With that in mind the folks at Right Coast have sent out the following message:

    Hi,

As this is being posted, there are approximately 40 days to load in at Road Atlanta for the American Road Race of Champions (ARRC) and the final race of the 2018 Right Coast Formula F Series presented by the American Pen Company. The Prelude to the 50th event takes place on November 2, 3, and 4, 2018 on the historic and challenging Road Atlanta circuit.

Registration will be open soon on MotorsportReg.com. We have found that early entries seem to result in more entries, so please enter as soon as you can, as we often say to folks, entries breed entries. We will let you know as soon as registration is officially open. The kind folks of the Atlanta Region are fantastic hosts and you will really enjoy yourselves, should you decide to join us for the ARRC weekend. Last year’s event saw some very close, terrific FF/CF racing which only gets better if more drivers decide to join in.

The Right Coast Formula F Series is a very down to earth, no nonsense, no bull excrement, keep it simple series. We always welcome every entrant regardless of motor or tire choice. It is about racing with a good field of likeminded competitors. We are looking forward to more terrific racing as we’ve seen all season long.

We sincerely hope that we will see a turnout at Road Atlanta even higher than we had last year so we can close out 2018 on a strong note and set the stage for a very successful US Formula F 50th Anniversarycelebration on November 1, 2, and 3, 2019.
All Formula F cars are eligible; Ford or Honda powered, slick or treaded tires; all are welcome. If you have a Formula F you can come and race with us in whatever configuration you choose. We will classify you as you request and you too can race for one of the “unique” Right Coast trophies.

We will be unveiling the logo for the Road Atlanta celebration of the 50th Anniversary of our class at the ARRC this year, a year in advance of the 50th, and if things go as planned we may also have our first version of a tee shirt featuring some special artwork for the 2019 event. But you must enter to get one, so….

Remember, the second ever SCCA National Championship race, won by Skip Barber in a unique Tecno chassis [following up on his 1969 first ever FF championship race win at Daytona in a Caldwell] was held at the then, newly opened Road Atlanta in November 1970. Road Atlanta continued as the home for the SCCA Runoffs for the next 22 years, so there is huge FF history at this wondrous racing track. While the track has changed a bit, it actually races better now with the great passing zone at Turn 10A-B.

Looking ahead to 2019 and the 50th Anniversary we expect to offer several race groups, depending on the number of entries but can see possibly three races, one for treaded tired cars, one for Club Formula F car, and one for Formula F cars, that is the more modern group. Then — ALL will be invited for a grand finale race up to the track limit of cars allowed!

We have a team working hard on a number of items that we believe will make the 2019 event special, but it all begins with you and a really strong turnout at this Prelude to the 50th event on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

    Thanks,

    Joe Marcinski

    Default 40th at Road America

    From Mylaps:
VFF started race: 45 (2 more listed as DNS)
Regional FF started race: 99 (11 more listed as DNS)
National FF started race:70 (11 more listed as DNS)

Several cars ran more than one race so I don't know how many cars showed up in total.

Sorry Mike, I misread your post.
At this event the year prior (2008), there were 15 FFs
    The 2010 event had 12.

Thanks Garey. Point proven that how many show up ( I hope a ton of cars) at this years Right coast event in Atlanta has nothing to do with how many will show up next year at the 50th.

Personally I am planning to run the 50th.
It is a long haul from Buffalo and I don't plan to do the ARRC this year.
Sorry if this hurts the future of the 50th but it's just reality.

Hey Joe...enjoyed dinner with you at Pittsburgh

But morer is better than fewer

It was a lot of fun last year.

I will likely have room in the trailer, if anyone from Ontario or northern NY/PA would like to go ..... even have cars available.

Look, if RA is worried. Plan on about 6 FF's at the 50th next year out of the Stonebridge world headquarters.

Well.. that will be hard to do.. and likely not the best way to go about doing well..

That weekend was the only time Joe Stimola ever yelled at me...I can still hear his voice in my head when I think about that race

One of my fondest memories of the 40th was the intense race between Treadway and Niki. I had not before that experienced seeing in impound scratched and dented noses from intense bump drafting. Now it is the norm in the pro series but in 2009 that was one intense race.
Treadway in the then world famous Swift, and Niki in the most beautiful Tiga I had ever seen.

OBTW, i don't understand all this talk of "quitting after the 50th"

Fun race and I wish my water hadn't decided to vacate the engine. Before the yellow, Treadway and I had a gap on Coello. Oh well. Anyone have a Club Ford they want to let someone else drive for the 50th?

The number of racers in the FF/CF/FV/F5/600 Saturday ARRC race, and Sunday's Right Coast race is impressive.

Given adequate health for me, the 'crew' and the motorized components, I will be at the fiftieth, but I can't make this years race. I ran with the Southern 1600 series in July at Road Atlanta partially to tune up for the 50th. [First time there in 19 years; It was awesome! I'd forgotten how much fun Road Atlanta was! ] I skipped the Goblins and the ARRC this year specifically to pay off some bills [my wife thinks a roof leak is more important than racing! Go figure.] so I'd have the budget free next year to be at the 50th regardless.

I hope this years car counts are great, but I expect they will have little to do with next years event. They might represent a pessimistic estimate of a minimum turnout if foul weather is predicted, but that's about all you could read from this, I think. Still, I expect great racing, and hope someone gets some good video. Paying it forward leaves me living [racing; same thing] vicariously.

Talent usually ends up in front, but fun goes from the front of the grid all the way to the back.
