    Default Mid-Ohio Formula Car Event

The FRP event last weekend was spectacular. The paddock was full of race cars and there were spectators parked all weekend against the trees overlooking madness (that is a sequence of corners for those unfamiliar). Despite blazing 90+ degree weather, the FRP staff did an awesome job of managing the event and keeping close to schedule.

There was a huge Challenge Cup FV field and solid RCFFS and S2000 fields, bringing back memories of what SCCA Club racing was for these classes several decades ago. Great racing and great social atmosphere.

While the high profile group did their best to fill their races with caution laps, the F1600 and F2000 sessions were just the best racing we see in North America. For example .... In F2000 final qualifying, the top 9 cars were covered by .8 seconds. In the final F1600 race, the fastest race laps of the top 15 cars were within 1.2 seconds! These 2 FRP classes continue to provide the best value in the US for serious small formula car racers. Why any serious racer with one of these cars, chooses Formula Alphabet groups at SCCA club races, over these FRP events continues to baffle me. And for those who are less intense, RCFFS and Challenge Cup, especially at FRP events, should be at the top of your list.

In the last month, I have seen great vintage FF racing, great Canadian F1600 racing, and great CF/FF/F1600 racing last weekend. Despite the best efforts of SCCA, the class seems alive and well on the East coast of North America.

Thank you for the report and support! This weekend is becoming a tradition of great open wheel racing (VS2000 is close enough to open wheel). We had about 130 cars in the paddock.

    Default Quality fields as well

Many manufacturers and high racing quality abounded in the groups called out above. Loved every mile of the weekend, in spite of the heat.

Well said! Despite towing home 10 hours with a damaged race car, we had nothing but smiles and laughs on the ride home. Great event, top notch racing, and great people! My favorite event of the year for sure!

As always it was a fun event. My favorite weekends are Right Coast weekends hosted by FRP. Thank you everyone who helped get the car back together. It was nice to see all those formula cars and the S2 cars!
