So a very good friend just came back from a “road racing summer camp” and now he thinks he is the poo (he finished fourth in an seven car class)! How do I tell him the “race car” Radical 1000cc was a school bus?
Thank you

I guess I would ask, why do you want to tell him? There is always the problem that writing has a difficult time conveying the emotion of your statement but this was taken by at least me to be negative. You have possibly the last person on earth interested in becoming involved in racing. I would encourage that. If I was going to tell him the Radical is a school bus, I think it would be in the direction of, "I bet it was fun. Just wait until you get to a more capable car. It will really show you what a race car is." Rather than 4th out of 7 and in a Radical??? Pfffft! So what?
It is entirely possible that you did not have that in mind. Again, the written language and intent sometimes do not go hand in hand (ask any law maker). So my suggestion is to tell him in a manner that encourages him to go further in racing rather than discourage him from the sport.
Eric (I misinterpret things all the time) Little
Thank you Eric for the great advice!!!! You have a PM.
