    Default Drums

This is just to let you guys know that I just got the new batch of castings back from being stress relieved a couple days ago and so am finally machining them - 104 of them, to be exact. Assuming that none get scrapped, there will be 54 available for you guys as 50 are called for already.

With all the usual interruptions around here, and the remaining outside processing that has to be done ( broaching and final bead blast), I expect that they will be available the first part of December.

I'll post again when I am ready to take orders.

FINALLY getting the drums over to the broacher today - the last 2 months here have been full of interruptions, unfortunately. I expect that it will take maybe 3 weeks to get that and the final bead blasting done, and then get them back here.

You can start ordering them so i can get the list made up and ready. Payment will be either by Paypal (rpare@prodigy.net) or by credit card before shipping. Price is $150 per drum, plus shipping ( Fed Ex Ground).

Drums are all broached and at the bead blaster this morning. I might actually get them back on Friday, and if so, will start shipping next Monday.

Your right. Sorry about that. If I could figure out how to get rid of the pic, I would.

Picking up about 50 of the drums in a few minutes - bead blasting progress has been rather slow! Will have them able to ship out on Monday.

I'm assuming these are awesome, but since I'm new to FV, could you enlighten me as to what exactly makes them better than the standard drums? Are they stronger? Lighter? Machined to tighter tolerances? Something else? Thanks!

They are superior in quality for racing purposes. US foundry cast to ICP specifications.

The ones supplied by parts houses are made overseas with little or no quality control. Once the drums were sourced outside of Germany the trouble started with failures.

One of the main improvements is the lack of a inspection hole close to the center flange. Most failures of stock drums start as cracks from this hole.

If a standard drum breaks you're going on an interesting excursion. These drums are a must have.

The drums are also cast from Ductile 80 (80 kpsi tensile strength), which is generally twice as strong as any aftermarket drum ( almost all are a Grey CI, with a tensile strength rage of 30-35 kpsi), and are stress relieved before machining.

Unfortunately, I just found out last night that the local foundry that I have used for 28 years has closed its doors, and I have to go pick up all of the patterns and core boxes i have there, and then now find another foundry.

    Down to 3 left.

Will look at another run being ordered this May, but have to find another foundry now that won't charge an arm and a leg for the castings ( never mind not incurring a lot more in shipping costs), so most likely finished drums won't be available until the end of the summer. Price most likely will rise again, unfortunately.

Anyone who wants to pre-order and get theirs reserved will be welcome.

    All are sold.

Still have to go find another foundry - have been buried for the last couple months. Most likely the next batch will not be available until around the turn of the year.
