After racing for many years in SRF, I made the move this year to FF. I’ve always wanted to run this class since I started attending races in the mid 80’s. I’ve seen the field sizes dwindle over the years and prior to this year accepted that I would be entering races with smaller fields (much smaller than SRF) but wanted to run anyway. I ran four weekends this year with three having fields over 20 FFs and the smallest at 14. Have I missed a resurgence (happily) or is this simply a function of the Indy Runoffs?

Either way, the driving has been exceptional and I’ve been pleased to see that the skill of the fields, top to bottom, has been very impressive..... now if everyone else could just slow down about a second!

Glad to have you in the class. FF fields at least back East have been healthier the last few years than the doom and gloomers want you to believe. FF is one of the best subscribed open wheel classes in the SCCA. Putting some effort into deciding which races you attend you will almost always have a good turnout. I am sure numbers were a little higher this year because of Indy but '16 wasn't bad either (except for the Runoffs) and I imagine 19 will be solid as well.
