Last Call for Pittsburgh

July 6th to 9th starts the annual Pittsburgh vintage races with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Historics at Pitt-Race, hosting round 4 of the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series. The following weekend, July 15th and 16th we go to Pittsburgh’s beautiful Schenley Park for an exhibition race.

The remodeled Pitt-Race is a terrific track – a mini Nurburgring –– elevation changes, puckering sweepers, fast corners, slow corners, and straights. 2.9 miles and 19 turns with a 90mph average for the front runners - it will keep you on your toes, a test of man and machine. This is the finest Ford track you will race on. Wherever else you run this year, this is not one to miss. PVGP has also JUST added an extra race for us Fordsters on Saturday afternoon – one additional session no other entrants get.

Schenley Park is probably the biggest annual event in the Pittsburgh calendar – the crowds are enormous. Its a happening rather than a race, reminding us of the vintage hill climb events in the UK. The beautiful shaded paddock in the park lends a relaxed feel to enjoy time with your fellow racers. The event itself requires circumspection as we are running on the park roads – a mini Isle of Man TT; But the track is testing and rewards neatness and discipline. Besides the track time there are events all over the park including one of the biggest car shows you will visit.

Whether you are just back from Indy or waiting to finish Thompson get you entry in now for either event, or preferably join the majority who run both – we need to complete the planning. To date the program looks like this:
