Default Round #3 - Thompson Vintage Motorsports Festival

On the 50th anniversary of the 1967 birth of Formula Ford in the UK, it’s fitting that the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series visit Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, CT. In 1967, coincidental with the inauguration of the Formula Ford class, Thompson, which had introduced the first permanent road course for the SCCA in 1952, created a 1.7-mile road course. This was the model for club racing road courses for the US.

Round three of The Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series will be at Thompson for the first time with VRG and VSCCA from June 22 through 24. Thursday is a test day on the 1.7 mile road course with 6 sessions (over an hour on-track and included in the $425 entry fee); there will also be the customary Royale Series Grand Barbecue in the paddock on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday will be three sessions each day with the 25-minute Royale Feature Race wrapping up the event on Saturday. Then everybody can go home a day early and begin preparation for Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix at Pitt-Race, near Pittsburgh PA which starts July 7th. Early registration (Earlybird $avings) ends on May 19th!
