    Default New 29mm restrictors

Has anyone had any experience with the new 29mm IIR's yet?

Its a shame the powers that be find it necessary to further castrate these engines more than they already are.

I personally was not able to keep up with ANY of the top tuned 593 2-strokes in a straight line already with the 30mm.

Speed in different areas my friend. These engines will never equate equal in segments. Still wil be fun at Indy, bring your dad.

Its wont matter if the MC motors are at 10mm restrictors much less 29s as long as we are turning faster lap times than the slowest people on the track with a two stroke. In their minds the reason they're getting beat is because of the MC motor being in the car not because they're challenged in the in the area of driving ability. All of the noise tends to come from drivers that couldn't win a race regardless of the motor choice. The first set of races in Florida showed that in fact the slowest drivers with a two stroke was able to hunt down and pass the MC powered car that placed 2nd at Daytona in straight line fairly easy. Two stroke guys will argue that fact but, it's hard to deny when its on camera. It's also funny that there were no boxes put on any cars for evaluation purposes when it was stated that there would be as soon as MC powered cars that were top notch started showing up for Majors races. I guess a 2nd place Runoffs car wasn't top notch enough to be considered for performance evaluation purposes in a environment that "favors" the MC motors. Funny how that works out.......

Jeremy, in the Runoffs race video at Mid-Ohio when Steve in the 2 stroke car was leading Calvin, you can clearly see that the 2 stroke car was out accelerating the 4 stroke car out of the keyhole every lap. Now Calvin would definately gain on him at the end of the straight but that was purely the aero advantage of the Blade, and this was with the 30mm restrictors. The point is that the cars were very equal in race trim.

    Where are they different?
    Thanks ... Jay Novak

This is precisely the reason I have written a letter to the CRB requesting the Rotax 593 cars weigh the same as the MC cars. (875 lbs) Why should they get to weigh less? Like Jay said, history has shown the 593 cars accelerate faster than a MC engine car. The higher weight in the 593 will have very little effect on top end speed, if you don't believe me ask your engineer friends or do your own research.http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calcula...or%20Speed.php

With both cars weighing the same it will also be easier for the SCCA to get usable data from each of the platforms to compare performance. Also, everyone seems to forget about the old 494/493 engined cars, if there is to be equal performance between ALL the different engine packages this a necessary change.

Please write a letter to the CRB requesting the same. https://www.crbscca.com

The bigger question - what has become of the data that was collected by SCCA at the Mid-Ohio Runoffs?
