Default 2017 Right Coast Formula F Series Schedule

    Hi,

The Right Coast Formula F Series is very, very pleased to announce our race schedule for 2017. This coming season will feature four “full” Right Coast weekends and two “flash mob” type events.

    Full Right Coast Weekends:

June 2, 3 & 4; New Jersey Motorsports Park on the Lightning Circuit with the SCCA South Jersey Region

June 30 to July 2; Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with Formula Race Promotions Pro F1600/F2000/FAtlantic

July 28, 29 & 30; Pittsburgh International Race Complex with Formula Race Promotions Pro F1600/F2000/FAtlantic

August 25, 26 & 27; Summit Point Motorsports Park with Formula Race Promotions Pro F1600/F2000/FAtlantic & the Woodbridge Karting Club

    Flash Mob style events:

September 16 & 17; Watkins Glen International with SCCA Finger Lakes Region Fun One Regional

November 2,3,4 ; Road Atlanta with SCCA Atlanta Region American Road Race of Champions

The first Right Coast weekend will be on the Lightning Circuit at NJMP. The weekend will be part of the SCCA Regional. The weekend schedule is not yet finalized, but we anticipate that our drivers will be able to race in two Right Coast FF/CFF/HF only races as well as participate in the normal regional race program. The race entry fee will be structured so that you can race Right Coast only, Right Coast & Regional or Regional only. There will be a Friday testing available and that day is run by the track and does, unfortunately, require an additional entry fee. The kind folks of the South Jersey Region ran a superbly organized weekend last year and made us feel most welcome and we expect this year’s event to be even better.

The three weekends with FRP will feature Friday practice time; a Saturday qualifying session and Race 1; Sunday Races 2 & 3. There is a major change in that these Pro races will be run under a USAC sanction. We do not have full details yet, but we have been assured that SCCA licenses will be honored and accepted seamlessly and that the participant insurance will be at least equal to that of an SCCA sanctioned event. We will forward the details on these items as soon as they are finalized and given to us. We are assuming that these races will NOT be able to be counted toward SCCA license renewal requirements, but we are checking to make sure.

The “flash mob” events have a simple concept and intent. On these weekends, we participate in the existing race program/race group. There is no FF/CFF/HFF only race group or “bonus” race(s). We will try and get as many FF/CFF/HFF drivers to participate as we can with the intent being gaining credibility. Both events are at race tracks that are highly rated and are on most people’s bucket lists. If we can bring enough cars to the event and can demonstrate a strong turnout, then perhaps we can generate the credibility to allow us to negotiate for an FF/CFF/HFF only race group or perhaps even inclusion as a “full” Right Coast type event in the following year’s race program.

So, 2017 will see the Right Coast drivers racing at up to six of the most challenging and popular tracks East of the Mississippi. We do hope you will join us. Please visit our website at www.rcffs.org as we regularly publish updates that are posted there as well as on ApexSpeed. If you are not getting our email communications but would like to, please visit the website and click on the “Contact” tab and we will put you on the list.
As we get closer to each event we will publish details regarding entry fee, registration details, parking arrangements, driver’s meeting times, on track schedules and other details concerning the weekend.

The goal and intent of the Right Coast Formula F Series remains as follows; we want to develop a large following of drivers who attend a limited number of races each season where they can race in Formula F/Club Formula F/Historic Formula Ford ONLY race groups; multiple times in any given weekend at race tracks that they find challenging and enjoyable. Think back to a time when you could race when there were 20 to 25 (or more) FF/CFF/HFF in their own race group. Think back to a time when you could do that without having to buy a special set of tires, or had to take something off the car or put something on your car so that you would be allowed to race. You could just show up and race and were made to feel very welcome that you were there. Did you have fun? Did you wish that you could do that more often?

We have been able to do this for the past three years because YOU, the drivers, have shown up in numbers that are sufficient to make our efforts to create the opportunities credible. If you continue to race with us and if you can bring some of your friends so that we have bigger fields, we will have more opportunities open up for us. We do ask that you enter as soon as each weekends entry is open [You can always cancel due to mechanical or family reasons if need be and get a refund ] because, boys and girls, entries breed entries ! When a driver sitting on the fence sees a growing entry list of his or her competitors it many times spurs that person to think, Hey ! I want to be part of this event that has a bunch of my racing pals going !

Please come join the fun !

    Thanks,

    Joe M.
