Default Rocket Tech F500 - SOLD

I have a F500 that can be raced in 2017. However, it will need some work. The car is a Rocket Tech I designed and built by Doug Marsh.
Doug is well known within the F500 community as a quality builder, engineer and driver. he won the class at the Run Off's with a Rocket Tech II.
My car has not ran since 2007. It will need to have some upgrades to meet the GCR as well as typical car updates. The car has many parts that can be negotiated with the price or just the car alone; i.e. clutches, extra rims and belts. The current engine is a 494 and would not be competitive with the new engines currently being run. There are extra rims that come with the car. Please contact me here on Apex if interested.
There is an older Red Devil that is also available. I can share with you information on that car as well.

    $ 4,000.00 OBO

Is the engine a 494 RAVE or non-RAVE? The 494 RAVE engines are still competitive with the 493 and 593, with the right prep, car, and driver. Cars with either of the 494 engines get a 50 lb weight break vs cars with the 593 engine.

I have been asked about the Red Devil I mentioned in my original post. It is a 1996 T-23. The owner of the car is my team Mate Jack Smith. It has not been run for approx 15 years.
You would be able to purchase the car for $1,000 OBO

Bill, sorry for the late reply. A family member was hospitalized. The Red Devil Does not have a motor. The engine compartment was set up for an AMW. You are the third individual who has expressed interest in the car.

    All,

Just some info concerning the 1996 Red Devil.

    It would require:
    1- A new fire system.
2- Update the roll bar to meet GCR.
    3- An engine.
4- Inspect and repair some cracks in the frame due to wear. Not wrecked!
    5- New fuel cell.

Currently, there is a gentleman in Ohio who is interested in both cars. If he is unable to purchase the car/cars. I will notify those who have expressed interest as well as this forum.
Thank you everyone who have expressed interest.

What would make a 1996 car's rollbar not compliant? Did I forget about a change since then?

One thing not on the list is a front crush structure. I would also plan on full brake system and every wear item on the car.

Still a good deal at $1,000.

You are correct Cory. The Roll bar is not IAW the height requirements, per my team mate who owns the car. The crush box, fluids, hoses and brakes were a given due to not being utilized since the late 90's.

I'm also interested in the Red Devil but I guess I'm number four in line. Let me know if it becomes available.

Thank you for your interest. I will keep you informed. The original individual who was interested in both cars now only wants the Rocket Tech.

We have to pull out of the game. I got the wrath of the "he's not racing open wheel cars!" So both cars are available.

    Thank you! Learned something today.

Regarding the rollbar - there is no static height requirement. It's relative to the height of the driver's helmet.

I have no idea how tall Jack Smith is, but unless the rollbar has been modified, a 1996 Red Devil rollbar is compliant with current rules for all but the absolute tallest drivers. I would hate for someone to pass on purchasing this car based on potentially inaccurate info.

For anyone who buys the Red Devil; I have a spare AMW motor free to anyone who would want to install it in the car to get it running. As I have a 494 waiting to go in my Novakar once the AMW in my car wears out, I'll not be using the spare. I use an AMW in my autocross car and it's been fine for the last 2 years.

    I'm in Vegas, Tom

That seems to be the problem with those who have responded. Distance has been a factor with buyers for pick up or no trailer.

I've sent a PM, but where / what city is the T-23 Red Devil located?

I'm probably not close but I have access to a utility trailer.

The Rocket Tech I was the first car built. The tub came from a Zinc and the rest of the frame was engineered around that. The RT II was the second car and re-engineered from the original car to become the standard for future cars. The frame and other components were upgraded. Doug marsh won the SCCA F500 Championship with the RT II.

Where did that bodywork come from off the red devil? The center tub of my F500 is one and I'd really like to switch over to that style.

The bodywork is the Rocket Tech II and not the Red Devil. Doug Marsh is the builder of the RT II. He designed and developed the body as well. He can be contacted at Rocketech Mortorsports. rocketechmotorsports.webs.com.
