Wanted To Buy Found one! ISO F500 starter car

Starting to search for a budget level 500. NEOhio area. Have an engine and clutch available so a roller would work too. Son is coming from karts and want to move to road racing.

What do you have or know of that needs to get back on track? Competitiveness not really important. Track time at regionals is what we want.

Budget is really tight. I still need to get him his safety equipment.

    John,
You may want to check out F500.US. They deal specifically with F500 cars and post and add your request there. One word of advice, some times your are better off saving up and getting a better car than getting into a car that needs a lot of work. Especially if you are new to the class. You also want to get a car you can get replacement parts for and advice on set ups.

    John,

I highly recommend you check out a Formula Vee and the Challenge Cup series. You can buy a car for the same price as a F500, the Falken tires last 3 years and you'll actually have people for your son to race with and learn from. F500 you'll be lucky if 1-2 cars show up for a regional, he'll get bored driving around by himself. Being in Mentor, you're pretty close to most of the challenge cup races for 2017.

No an F500 is on the want list. If the desire and will are there to work toward it, I can't sway him another way. It's hard enough getting a teenager to be focused on anything!

    Default F500 Available

    John,

I have a F500 that you can race in 2017. The car is a Rocket Tech and built by Doug Marsh.
Doug is well known within the F500 community as a quality builder, engineer and driver. he won the class at the Run Off's.
My car has not ran since 2007. It will need to have some upgrades to meet the GCR as well as typical car needs. The car has many parts that can be negotiated with the price or just the car. You will not want the engine as it would not be competitive with the new engine being run. I am in Columbus and available to chat if interested.

Kinda know Doug very well! He is president of the kart club we were running. Plus have know him over 10 years.

Would be interested in more info. Getting upgrades done is no problem. PM me your phone number and we can talk further.

For everyone saying this is a great entry level formula class, there sure doesn't seem to be a lot of low cost cars available out there.

I don't think you are going to find a cheaper race ready car than Sean's. Or you may be able to find one for less that needs work and up at the same price point.

I chatted some with Sean this morning. He's calculating it out as a roller for me. I have access to a 494 setup already. Gotta keep my costs as low as possible...
