Formula Ford 50th World Celebration - North East

VRG is delighted to announce that at this year’s Jefferson 500, VRG and the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series will celebrate the Worldwide 50th Anniversary of Formula Ford racing. From the first Lotus 31 to the latest FF, all racers, all engines (Ford and Honda) and all tires are welcome to this epic event that will be held on the prestigious Summit Point Raceway main course on May 18th – 21st, 2017. Given Bill Scott’s dedication to the sport, both as an open-wheel racer (until a pro career ending incident at Nürburgring), as well as track owner, there is no better way to say ‘Thank You’ to all those who have come before as well as those who continue the legacy then at Summit Point Raceway?

Registration, is open NOW (Click Here)! Based on the initial feedback we are anticipating a large turnout. Entries are limited and will be accepted on a first come first served basis. To this end, we have approx. 100 spots reserved for the Royale Formula Ford Challenge 50th Celebration. VRG will designate specific paddock space for all the Formula Ford entrants. Bob Woodman Tires (Hoosier Dealer) will be in attendance, and gas is available in the paddock.

There will be a free open practice day for all those who register under the ‘early bird’ model; giving you 3 sessions (1 hr of open practice track time) in which to prepare for the race weekend.

During the race weekend, we will have dedicated run groups as well as feature races bringing you at least 2.5hr of track time (see schedule below) not including the practice day! Timing & Scoring as well as Awards will be based on the class.

Outside of the racing, there will be a paddock barbeque Friday night hosted by the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series with a special ‘meet & greet’ with Brian Redman (free to all entrants); there will be music, race videos on the big screen and plenty of good food and drink to encourage the bragging that will occur as we kick off the weekend. Don’t forget, the VRG Dinner Saturday where Brian will regale tales of daring deeds accomplished in the era of the world’s most dangerous formula and sports racing cars.
