    Default WHP West Novermber 5&6

The bad news first: Only a dozen cars showed up, and there was an unusual amount of mechanical attrition through the first seven sessions of the weekend. Six cars took the final green flag and Jim soon discovered his arm restraint was interfering with the shift linkage as all the belts came loose.

That said, there was a LOT of racing going on. Check out the final time sheet:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4c82azcjq...ellow+race.pdf. Ignore John a second/lap ahead of everyone and Jim quitting early to deal with his belts, and the rest of the field, after 16 laps, is covered by little more than 2 seconds. Best laps differ by 0.267 seconds. Before the weekend, Lori had done a total of 4 laps in a street car on this track.

I'm almost regretting family Thanksgiving plans because Mondo/Bondo is a hoot. See y'all in January!

Weateher report shows it was light winds, high in the 80's and low in the upper 50's at night. Sounds like it was a perfect AZ weather weekend!

Looks like Ron Rutter is getting some good times as well. Everyone getting more comfortable and confident in cars should make for a fun season.

The time sheets look great but they do not reveal the extent to which the "fun meter" was pegged. Every session contained some very spirited driving, there was always someone to race with.

There were very few agricultural excursions but Jim's car probably doubled it's weight while testing it's buoyancy in the largest of the mud puddles available. There were no car/car contacts but there were many nose/gearbox inspections at the conclusion of each race.

The new P/Q1/Q2/R format seems to have been well accepted, no one can complain that we are not getting enough "start" practice. I found myself as the filling between a Ron/TimH sandwich into turn one but as usual racing room was given and everyone made it through.

Jens and Eric were busy dealing with the resident gremlins but the number 27A Vector did make a couple sessions and posted some impressive times. Well done Eric..

Lori, Ron and Scott all turned in spectacular performances and are going to be a real handful next season.

See you at the next race ...
