Just think of how many co-driver would be eliminated, I'm not saying this is the SCCA's reasoning for not having tire warmers I believe its just trying to keep cost down.

They may not be allowed for SCCA autocross, but I am not aware of any restriction in the NASA autocross or time trial rules. So it all depends on which governing body you run under.

I was on the SEB way back in the 80s/90s and suggested the rule. The reason was twofold. One was, as suggested by CM/FFdriver, because anyone not willing to pony up a couple thousand dollars for four warmers plus generator would be rendered immediately uncompetitive.

The other reason was to prevent grids from becoming full of noisy, stinking generators. What a nightmare that would have been.
