    Default Sub-Crotch Belt Mounting

Hi. I have taken my seat out of my Lotus 61 to sit lower and are now sitting on the floor. My question is with the crotch belts, they used to come up through the seat but now with no seat the just come up through the "boys". Is this normal or is there some sort of bar or something they should go under. It seems to me that on impact the boys would be the buffer. Is this correct? Mine mount just a little further back than the hip belt mounting area. Thanks for any advice.

The Crow system runs the crotch belts through a D-ring on the waist belt which holds them out laterally. The result is support on the thighs much like a typical climbing or parachute harness.

Common mounting if you are not using a bottom frame crossmember is mounting separate crotch straps at each waist belt mounting point, and then "sitting on them" to bring them up between your legs. I liked the Sparco belts that then go through waist belt rings and loop around the shoulder straps before they clip into the cam lock.

For some manufactures, they call this type of harness layout, a Formula style.
Been used by Willans, Luke, etc., not only for formula/sport racers but GT/sedan types, forever.
