$410 for VRG members’ early Bird entry for 7 sessions including the VRG/Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series race, almost 3 hours of total track time.

For those of you who have not been to NJMP Lightning before, this is the most pure fun meet of the year. Despite a busy Friday with four sessions, it’s a relaxed weekend. The track is fast, flowing circuit with interesting elevation changes that allows for a nice rhythm, with average lap speeds of around 92 mph at the front, really satisfying when you get it right. The fast, banked, 180-degree lightbulb turn is one-of-a-kind. Perfect for Formula Fords, there is always close racing throughout the field – we are expecting a strong turnout, so we can all have fun playing together.

On Friday night we join with Christian Morici, fresh from demolishing the Shenley outright track record, for a mega Royale Challenge Series Barbecue celebrating his 40th birthday; refreshments included. Along with the barby we have the raffles for 3 pairs of Hoosier tires courtesy of Hoosier and KFC brake pads courtesy of Powerslide Motorsports. Cloverleaf sponsors a case of Amsoil synthetic oil for the longest tow (and another in reserve for a hardship award). Later in the weekend we’ll also award a “Hard Charger” award courtesy of Stonebridge Cryogenics.

In your down-time on Saturday afternoon, South Jersey after Labor Day is a wonderful place – nearby beaches are uncrowded, yet the temperatures (including the ocean) are warm and inviting. If more race spectating is your style, the NASCAR K&N Pro Tour has a 125-mile race on the adjacent Thunderbolt track – free for us! Of course, you can just stay put at the Lightning track for the vintage motorcycle and sidecar racing with the USCRA – a great group of racers who share the VRG outlook on fun, competition and safety.

On Saturday evening, about a mile from the track, there’s a VRG Craft Beer tasting at the Glasstown Brewery (certified by many at last year’s event as a very good microbrewery) followed by a $24 per person BBQ at the Millville Air Museum, for the benefit of the museum. The Saturday night dinner is also the only perk for the corner workers and they really do enjoy meeting everybody, so we encourage you to sign up and hang out for a few hours; it all wraps up by 8 PM.

Maybe some of you Southerners will pass up a second go at VIR (you’ve done it once this year) to come and play with the gang – 3 hours of track time! - and we miss you! New Englanders can take the I95 scenic drive (scenic?) to New Jersey to experience pleasant summer temperatures once more – along with great racing, food and camaraderie. We have seen double the entries from last year at VIR & Lime Rock, lets make New Jersey another record.
