    Default Wheel Balancing at Mosport

Does anyone know if there will be a Hoosier guy or someone to balance the VW bolt pattern wheels at the track? I am having absolutely no luck finding anyone locally to balance them.

You don't need a VW adapter. All you need is the adapter for a large Ford pickup truck (F350-F450) which most tire shops will carry. It is much faster than a bolt-on VW adapter as well. The tire service shop at Mosport has that adapter.

Ok, I searched and all I could find was that the big Ford 10 bolt circle is 225mm. I could find no cross reference to the 205mm VW pattern. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing. Can you direct me to the proper adapter so I can describe it to the tire shop?

All those modern tire machine adapters are cones that pin the center hole on the wheel, so you find one that has some portion of the cone at 205 mm. I have been to different shops and not had a problem. It is a common machine accessory in a tire shop. That's about all I know. Because some of the F1200 guys prefer to bolt on VW adapters (an inferior method, IMO) the guy at Mosport sometimes does not have the cone on hand and has to get it sent over from his other shop. For obvious reasons, it would be nice if you could get it done before you go, but at worst, Des's adapter will get it done at the track.

The good news about these tires is you rarely need to get tire work done. The bad news is that it gets done so infrequently, you cannot remember how you did it last time.

Are you running Hoosiers w/VW wheels or the Falkens? I used to jump through hoops to balance my VW/Hoosier combo until I was advised by a very fast National guy that he never balanced his (V/light mass being rotated). I tried it and never looked back - absolutely no vibration and no handling issues ever.
With the heavier Falken set-up you probably should balance them.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

The issue was with the Hoosiers and the rains. Good to know, thanks!
