Default FC with MZR Engine allowed in Pro Series

According to the May Fastrack minutes it shows the MZR at 1230 lbs will be allowed.

I understand making home for these cars however how many packages will actually be available? The new USF car will use the existing MZR engine and sequential transmission so I believe most cars will be sold as rollers.

Not sure how level the performance will be. Anyone care to add some knowledge?

Default FC with MZR Engine allowed in Pro Series

This is just the club letting them run in FA. Just like they let the old cooper series car run in their pro configuration.

Seems like a good idea that doesn't hurt anyone.

Yes you're correct I have no clue how it will perform unrestricted.

As a follow-on to this thread (and I am opening this up to folks who know more about this than me, which is just about everybody!), my understanding is that the MZR and sequential gearbox will be allowed in the F2000 Championship Series in 2017, and the Elan chassis with the MZR and sequential box will run in the USF2000 Series in the "B" of "National" category, correct?

Adding to this, in 2016, Zetec powered cars were allowed in the USF2000 series, will they be allowed to compete in this series in 2017?

Any chance the SCCA will allow the MZR/sequential 'box combination to run as FC's in 2017? Seems if the F2000 Championship Series is allowing then cars, then it would make sense for SCCA to allow them into Club Racing.

Thanks guys-seems like there is some nice opportunity for folks to pick up some really sweet cars at a reasonable price and then use them in multiple series. Sounds like an outstanding option to me!

The MZR used in Mazda's ALMS cars are putting out over 500 HP. I would guess that is pretty much unrestricted. They are also considering use in Indy Lights cars dialed in to 450 HP.

    Default Mzr

So when I asked at a Pro weekend how much a conversion was on a VD they thought 20K but weren't real sure. Anybody actually been quoted a price? and for what as far as a package is concerned.

Yeah, because all of the current Zetec cars available now are not outstanding options for racing......

As Nick pointed out, there are at least a dozen good Zetec cars for sale that could be put on track in "podium"form for the same or less money than USF spec cars .... some much less. It is a buyers market and a great opportunity to get into the FRP Series. There really is little crossover between the two Series as each are targeting a specific market and providing a different experience for their customer.
