    Default Gord Leach

I just got shocking news that sadly Gord Leach passed away in a car crash yesterday evening.

I only knew him from time spent at the Gimli track, where he would come to race a couple of times a year. He was a great guy to have around the pits, always laughing and ready to lend a hand. He will certainly be missed by the open wheel racing community in Canada.

My thoughts go to his wife and sons, family and friends.

RIP Gord, it felt like an honor to have shared time with you.

    Default Great Guy

Sad news, met him for the first time at the FF 40th at Road America, he was buying some parts off of me and truly embodied the crazy Canadian moniker! Many laughs and his cars were always so cool to see. God Speed Gord it was great knowing you and sharing beers.

    Default Sad to hear....

I sold my 91VD FC to Gord, and also got the chance to shake his hand at the FF40th and kick the tires on some of the cool cars he brought down. A very nice guy, indeed.

    Default Wake for Gord

    Thanks guys,

These have been some of the hardest days of my life. I can only imagine what Tammy and his sons are going through.

His wake will be at 2pm, Sunday March 6th, at the Balgonie Multiplex in Balgonie, Saskatchewan, Canada.

There will be a short service, and then an open mic, so anyone with a short story can speak about Gord's life, whether it be business, racing, or growing up.

Sad to hear the news of Gord's passing. I first met Gord when I sold him my Hawk DL11 project many years ago. Then I had the pleasure of racing against him back in 2007 in Formula 2000s. Rest in Peace and my thoughts go to his family.

    Default Gord

This is just a sample of the cars Gord either owned or played a huge part of getting on track. There are twice as many closed wheel cars.

That pic of 4 FC Reynards on a semi was how Gord got me into formula cars. He managed to convince me that we should go half'ers on 4 cars from Quebec, when I'd never sat in, let alone raced, a formula car before. I'd autocrossed a few quick cars, but never road raced, didn't have a licence, no clue what I was doing. He made it seem like we'd be stupid not to!

He was right. It's been an incredible 10 years since that picture. I wouldn't change a minute of it.

Very very sad, dont really know what to say! Flatspot and I knew each other from 2008, we raced each other only a few times but it was uncanny at how we seemed to connect!

For sure I will miss the sharp conversations we enjoyed at the track and on the phone. Rest in Peace Flatspot!

Agree with everything said above. He had a passion for motorsports that was infectious, and got a lot of people involved in it over the years.

    Default Gord's obituary

Lloyd Gordon ‘Gord’ Leach of Balgonie, SK passed away suddenly on Wednesday,
February 24, 2016 at the age of 45 years. He is mourned by his wife Tammy; sons Riley (Brianna) and Braydon; father Jim; sister Kathy; mother Gail; nieces Sarah and Shannon (Bob); and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gord was predeceased by his cousin Alaina, with whom Gord shared a special bond. Gord grew up and went to school in Saskatoon. After high school, Gord started working at Kelvin's Wheel & Tire in Saskatoon where he found his calling - Wheels. He moved his family to Winnipeg for a brief period of time to learn the art of wheel restoration at Winnipeg Wheel Works, and then relocated to Regina where he opened Regina Wheel Works 16 years ago, followed by Saskatoon Wheel Works. He was known to recognize the wheels he restored anytime and anywhere.
The best way to describe Gord was that he lived his life LARGE. Every part of his life was lived in his own grand style and to the fullest. Gord was incredibly passionate about his family. His main priority was to ensure his family was taken care of. He embraced every kind of motorsport or motor vehicle with a passion. If it had wheels, and a motor, he probably would drive it or be involved with it. Gord was ‘THE’ go-to guy for almost anything car related and was the glue that helped stick together a huge number of friends where ever he was present. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at the Balgonie Multiplex located on the corner of Highway 364 and South Railway Street on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Gord’s name may be sent to the Leach family for the establishment of a trust fund for Gord’s boys in care of the Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK S4V 3A3.
    "God Speed Gord".
    Veni. Vidi. Vici.
Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at www.regina-memorial.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
