From time to time, when we enter races, we put our credit card details on the entry form. Those forms include all our personal details including dates of birth etc.

I recently entered a meeting here in Australia, and it would appear that all those details were hacked from the organisers computer, and my identity was cloned. Others have had considerable amounts billed to their cards. Its my opinion that the organisers had a poor level of computer security.

My advice is to be weary of providing credit card details on entry forms that are then held by amateur organisers. Direct online entries using direct debit or PayPal appear to be more secure.
