For Sale Van Diemen RF84 For Sale #795

Well, I guess i'm going to try and sell my Formula Car. i just have too many things going on and have to consolidate a little.

I bought this car roughly 2 years ago, have added a bunch of time and money and have decided to see if anyone else would like to enjoy it.

By the way,I've done 2 track days since i've owned this car,and one was after the motor rebuild.

Here is a list of the goodies i've done since I bought it:

1.Hewland MK9 refresh, along with new joints for the shifter linkage.
2.New Tilton clutch and pressure plate.
3.New Tilton crank driven oil pump and plumbing connections
4.Complete engine rebuild by Elff racing services in Asheville,NC by Edson Degobbi.
5.New Pertronix FlameThrower High Performance Distributor for 1.6L.
    6. 1 dozen new jets for the webber carb.
7.Brand new 6 point Willans belt w/D ring lap harness.

    Spares:
    1. Brand new hoosiers FF spec. Bought fall 2015. Stored in controlled climate
2.3 sets of rims, one with old rain tires
    3.extra carb
    4.extra oil pump
    5.extra brake pads.
    6. 7 gear sets and other trans goodies

    $13,000

I'm going to try and sell before I modify for more comfort. It's a little tight for me at 5'11" 190lbs.

I have complete log books and set up info over the years. it has a rich history.
Hopefully I've listed everything. Feel free to ask questions

I would entertain a trade for a 99 or newer spec miata that was ready to race.

I'm also interested in a tag kart or two. I wouldn't mind going racing with my son.

    Anyway,that's where I'm at

    Default Tag karts

Good morning. I happen to have a couple of Tag karts that my son and I raced. He, of course, was much faster that I. One is a Tony kart and one is a Kart Mini, which is a Brazilian kart. Both have Parilla Leopard, pre-09, 2-stroke, water-cooled engines rated at 28 hp. Top end is about 65 depending on the track. Lots of fun, but wear a rib-protector. Photos if interested. Both very reliable. He was a constant podium finisher, I wasn't

    Default Go Kart

So, I got my little guy a Briggs LO206 cadet kart. We've had a little practice and are having a good time with it.

I wouldn't mind having one of these myself! We don't live too far from gopro motorplex and they have a pretty good series running there.

Anyways, just thought I would throw that out there.

Any opinions on the sale would be welcomed.

    Hey Tim,

My son also runs a go-kart at our local Kart track and we also do autocross events with his Go-Kart and my 84 Van Diemen, He's 4 years for driving the 84 VD but right now we have a great time, you could think of it in another way because you already have the investment in the 84 VD and start turning it into a great autocross 84 VD

I saw Tim and the car at the ARRC race. I hope Tim becomes a regular FF racer, with this car, or another, because he was nice guy who worked on the car like an old-timer club-racer. We need more people with that attitude and work ethic. The car has had a lot of the dirty work done. It now needs someone to finish it up into a competitive race car. It seemed well on it's way. We all know that it takes a number of races to get a returning car to that point, and Tim has made a good start.

Default 1984 Van Diemen Formula Ford--RF84

I have some more info for this car. I was/am going to swap my kent into the, new to me, swift DB1 that I just acquired.
After further evaluation, I'd love to do the Honda swap. So, I will sell this car in pieces, but the motor has to go first. I've done a leakdown test on all cylinders and the video is below.

it's doable, but it will be a tight fit. I am 6'1" and I fit snugly into my friends car (also an '84 VD) You will need a lot of upper body strength to pull yourself out of the cockpit. Fortunately, the frame in the car lets you get some good leverage.
