    Default FS1000 Scalable to FB

There is a thread going on in the general formula car section under OPEN WHEEL MIATA. Some of you FB guys or future FB folks might find it interesting.

Phoenix Race Works will be introducing a look at the latest FS car which will be scalable to FB rules. Think of it as an FB with no wings, floor, diffuser that can be ugraded at any time.

Currently the only class this car could run in is FS at the regional level but will be dual homologated.

Very cool, Gary...and I am confident we'd all like to see any photos/specs you can share with us.

Oh, and I believe the Club quit homologating F/SR cars a year or two back. Just get a log book like any other car. (Needs confirmation, tho.)

    Happy New Year

Should be a fun car to drive. Dustin will be posting some CAD renderings soon. Car is already under construction.

    Happy New Year Stan.

    Gary--

What happened to this car? How far did you get in the construction process? Why did you stop?

If you stay with a 1000cc engine, why won't the car qualify as a F1000?

I looked at doing a FF level performance car but at a price that I think would work, $30,000. The engine would be a rev-limited 1000 cc bike engine. Limited to reduce the power to 120 BHP, maybe 8000 RPM. Car with drive, post race 950 pounds. There was another builder who was also planning to do a car and we would have both cars presented at the same time.

To reduce cost, I designed it to use the same tire front and rear. The FF spec Hoosier front should work just fine.

The basic chassis and body work could be run with a Honda Fit engine as a FF. That package I think would be very competitive in FF. But it would cost a lot more than a bike powered car.

I got to the point of being able to cut metal. But when FRP moved to USAC, I had questions about SCCA as a partner in any project I would do. A good entry level formula car would compete with FE and I don't see that going over very well. FRP has the best of the formula car people on the east half of the country.

I would really be interested in seeing the reception you get. Best of luck with your project.
