    Default Quaife or Tranex LSD/ATB

Will the substitution of a Quaife/Tranex LSD/ATB in place of the standard Hewland Mk.9 center section/differential unit uprate the Torque capability of the Mk.9 when used with "M" gears. (Is this standard unit a VW Bus unit or Hewland's own design) Also will REM treating extend the life of the Pinion Shaft gear teeth surfaces at the crown where they tend to pit. Thanks for any information and insight. JP

The differential will do next to nothing to take load off of the R&P and gears - unless you are switching away from a spool or detroit locker.

To get better gear life, have them properly shot peened, and then REM polished. You could also add in cryogenic treatment as well.
