Default Slight "sideways" BRDC "Formula 4" Championship

    Ummmm

This is what England/BRDC Formula 4 Championship is doing - taking the current F4 to the "next" level of performance [new wings f/r, diffuser, 230 HP] but it will not be recognized by the FIA for/as F4 - so we'll see if it catches on ..........

It is a little bit confusing but the UK F4 championship has nothing to do with the FIA F4 Championship. This series was one founded by Dr Jonathan Palmer and his Motorsport Vision company before the FIA series existed. He actually bought the rights to the F4 name in the UK form the 750 Motor Club who had a club racing series call Formula 4 for many many years. I guess as the FIA streamlined their championships below Formula 1, F2, F3 and F4 made sense to them.

I believe the FIA F4 series in the UK is called MSA Formula which grew out of the national Formula Ford Championship which now no longer exists other than of course the plethora of regional and national Formula Ford 1600 championships. Hope that makes sense!

Is it safe to assume that these will each be 3 races/weekend?

Nobody knows. No car has run. The Mygale Ford F4 ran similar times without doing any tuning, but with a very good driver.

We won't know till next year but a guess would be they will be real close to one another acheiving their times in completely different ways.

Greg's point was even if they are the same or slower it won't matter as F4 has its own run group outside of Club racing altogether. Those wanting to step into F4 shouldn't care how the times compare.

I expect they will also run similar times to
GT3, GTA, F500, F600, ITO, SPU, STO, T1, and TCC.
And I'm sure that Franklin can figure out how to drive one sideways.

I thought the "F" in F4 stood for Franklin.
That class has his name on it.
I see another championship trophy on his shelf already.
