    Default Alec Purdy

Has anyone heard anything from or about Alec recently? Been trying to get ahold of him for a few months now - i knew that he was having some health issues and want to see how he's doing.

Alec passed away peacefully on the July 4th weekend when we were at Mid-Ohio for the F2000 event. I had the tough task of sharing the news with some of his friends. Alec had been working with us for the last few years. I have some info about Alec on my website under the Team section for anyone interested in knowing more about him.
    Cheers!

Alec was a great help to myself over the few seasons he worked with our team. Thank you for all your help Alec. You are sadly missed.

Aw crap! Had the feeling that was the outcome - he didn't sound too positive about things the last time we talked.

Alec was a great guy with a beautifully wacky sense of humor. Was a great friend for 3+ decades, and a great asset to the racing community. Will miss him.

    Default Long-time friend

Running in the AFFA series in the late 70's and early 80's we met Alec and the Ferret FF bunch. That was a super time in Sherrie's and my lives getting to know them. We kept in touch with at least annual visits to Toronto, etc., where we met for weekend get-togethers. We still do that, but sadly, now, without Alec.

For a short period in 1997 Alec and I were engineers (for two separate drivers) on an Indy Lights team (Indy Regency Racing). It was great working along side him, and I relied a lot on his advice. He sure was an easy-to-like guy.

    We certainly miss Alec.

    Default Alec Purdy

Alec Purdy was one of a number of great characters, I first met when I ran the Bulovia series for Formula Fords at Mosport, in the early 70's.
It was a sad day when I heard of his passing this past summer.

sad to learn of his passing, i met Alec in the early seventies when he and Brian Stewart were just about everything in Canadian FF racing, he really had a wry sense of humor

    That was a great event.

Tim and Jonathon have a cool website with lots of pics of Alec and the cars.
