Default Standard ratios in the box?

First off, new owner, I have a lot of questions. So, pardon me if I seem a little too enthusiastic.

    Now, back on topic.

What are the stock ratios in the box for a normal FM? Is there a standard?

    Default gears

Frank, keep in mind that you are not running by the FM rule book so you don't have to run those gears. You have a few more options with that in mind.

If you haven't already learned how to tear down a gearbox you should before you go out to the track. You will see that the gears all have engraved numbers on them indicating what they are.

Are there any instructional videos on the subject?

Don't laugh! There are some GOOD ones on the rebuilding of a rotary engine. From some blokes in Australia.

there might be some videos but I don't recall seeing any. A kind fellow named Brad Drew from So Cal taught us at the track out of necessity. There are tips/tricks to it but the basics are pretty easy. When I first started I went through a set of dogrings per weekend. Now it is every 3 weekends lol. You will need to know how to change gears for tracks with long straights, etc. If you find any video's you should post them for the next guy. Hell, maybe I'll take one and put it up on here for everyone. I can't do it but everyone else on my team can. I'm afraid if I learn they will make me do it myself moving forward!

You should! Have one of your aces whip out a stack, change a couple of bits, and then stuff them back in. For posterity!

I will let somebody more familiar with FM internals comment, as to not lead you astray.

But, here's what I found with a cursory google search:

    Default Saw that!

And wonder about this statement: MK8/MK9 (if using “M” type MK5 gearsets 240 HP and Quaife or Salisbury Differential)

Can someone tell me what an "M type" gearset is?

    Frank

Call up Mel and ask what he runs at Portland, open the box and see what is in it, or just take it out and see if you run out of revs mate.

Are you planning to race or is it a track day car?

Track days until I get used to the car, and then FL. (Since it's not FM legal).
