    Wow,
someone mentioned Harvey's old car, having raced against him at Daytona, that is THE fastest FF in a straight line, ever! If you didn't get past him in the infield, say bye!

All you guys be careful at the bus stop during the race, sand on the exit will make for an exciting view of the oval wall!

Has anybody tested 4 fronts vs normal setup same car, same session(conditions)? Just curious if the data proves it's faster...

You would have to be extremely fast to do it in one session since ride height and gearsets need to be changed.

Yes- a little planning and some great execution by Jeremy and Bill!

    Default Gears

The top speeds of about 150 are impressive, but it also is interesting to see that the fastest laps don't go with the highest top speeds. What is the speed in the slowest corner? It seems like there could be some big gaps in the gears. How much time is spent on the banking versus in the infield on a lap?

Who would have thought a FF going over 150, that's awesome! In the end the sector 3 times for the cars that reach 150+ is the same or slower than the cars running in the 140's. Top speed may be faster, but average time is slower. It also looks like sector 1 is pretty important. Should be a fun race to watch!

    Default Trade Offs

That is what I was thinking. With big gear spreads, it might be easier to save seconds in the infield than on the banking or at least it is a trade off. It isn't just a matter of top speed.

The trap speed is measured from the sf line to a point afterwards, i think. I believe the trap speed matches the previous lap time on the results.

Reid's post asking what harm could come from posting info on tires made me think of this sign that is on Jim Little's toolbox, so I took a picture today:

    Tom,
Word is you guys (Drivers Services) switched from nitrogen to helium in your tires.

Polishing the bottom of the floor with electric buffers and waxing... give me a break.

I probably have learned stuff Tom doesn't know, and he knows stuff i haven't picked up.

To really figure out the tires being used one must get real close. Maybe closd enough to read the little ingraved codes. Just saying Hoosier skinny won't tell you much.

That said, look at a car like JR2's... looks just like a normal kent/DB6 with fat tires. He just drives the wheels off it.

I agree with all parties & people such as much & Reid are interested to hear the stories sometime prior to the race which helps make us all feel more involved.

I don't usually look up the starting line of the Superbowl the day after the event. How about maybe a few hours before we get some updates as I can't see that harming anyone on the grid as there won't be enough time to make changes.

Steve, the teams in the Super Bowl don't share their play books with their fans or their competitors though before the game starts. There are some things teams here are doing that could still be copied by others before Sunday.

But I understand where you are coming from. I will speak with Jim about what he will let us talk about.

Is that tail legal? Am I reading the rules correctly where it says the maximum overhang of body behind the center of the rear axle is 80cm (31.49").

Frog, that is just the tip of the iceberg. We finished Q3 at 8:30 AM yesterday and the crew was still working on Wes and Bill's cars at 6:30 PM last night.

Thanks Tom & I was expecting someone to mention the play book in their reply back. Just interested in any info that is easily seen by other competitors already. I am sure I could answer many questions I have myself if I were there on what tires & other things people are running however unfortunately many of us can't be there.

I can't see the harm in reporting on anything that any observant person walking through the paddock or grid area would clearly see.

    Default Harvey's car 1984

The photo of Harvey's FF car was taken at the SEBRING National in January of 1984. Although he was 75 years old then, he was still running close to the front. There were a lot of damn fast guys there that weekend including Jeff Andretti in a shiny new SWIFT DB-1.

Looked like Tim and Dave hooked up. Beginning that lap they were about a second apart, Dave leading, then to come back to the stripe Tim was ahead by a second or so according to RaceMonitor. Fun to watch.

    All about the draft.

    Default edge of my seat

Congrats on P1 Tim, all of us from the Blackhawk and Chicago Region wish we were down there for all the festivities and to root on the Formula F class.

The list of active viewers at the bottom of this forum is as thick and deep with talent as I’ve seen, To all viewing, using the helium really paid off, but the wax really hurts when you peel it off. My ass won’t be the same for a while. Don’t try this at home, no matter what frog suggests.

Remember “its just a place to start” - Gibb Gibson,

    Have a great race Sunday!

    PS:
If anyone is at the track this weekend please stop by the Honda tent and introduce yourself to an “up and coming" racer, Calvin Kautz, Tim’s youngest son. Keep him on your radar.
