    Default Q2

Hope everybody is excited for Q2 as me.

The speeds are just amazing. Watched some in car yesterday of Q1 and saw some very well behaved drivers. Hope today brings the same.

Speeds through the Bus Stop are incredible. The leap back on to the banking seems critical. We're looking for more MPH........

    Best to everyone.

    Default DB6 Ford

That must be the only FF converted from Honda to Ford power.

Even the FVs are in the mid 120s, but the top speed I saw in GT1 was 197!

Maybe Ron Dennis should sneak an Eco-boost in this weekend in Japan.

On another note, it's interesting to see that the two fastest laps so far wouldn't even crack the top ten in trap speeds. It ain't all about HP.

Yes, but a smartly driven car with more HP/top speed can hold off others under race conditions... or should I say, can cruise around near the front of the lead pack until it counts.

Wow, about 1.5 seconds faster then track records. How did Jeremy and Bill both pull those laps off on the last lap as they were 1.2 and 1.3 seconds faster then their previous best. Did they team up and draft together?

But, consider the tire size difference between the two. The FA fronts are probably wider than the FB rears.

No Mike, the gag order has been lifted. I can confirm we are using four tires, one on each corner.

i will not reveal the tires. Let's just say it it interesting.
The big story in impound was confusion about the height of Swift exhaust pipes.
For a time it looked like many of the Swifts were going to be declared illegal.
Then, cooler minds prevailed, and the language was read, and the GCR diagram was ignored.
Even so, some are heating up pipes and bending them tonight to be able to " fit in the box".
JR2 is certainly carrying the Ford flag... and with fat rears.

Always pays to have your homolagation papers with you.

Morgan just must have old man's qualifying disease... he passes a dozen folks in the infield, but they all out qualify him.

Jeremy's car has so many little subtle changes since Laguna. And, his fitness regieme and diet are paying dividends.

There was a bit of drama after Q2 when tech disqualified every DB-6 in impound saying their exhausts were illegal (too high). The tech guy insisted the max height measurement was from the ground to the top of the pipe. Even showing him the actual rule that said the measurement is to the bottom of the pipe could not get him to change his decision. Finally the chief of tech had to get involved, took one look at the rule and said its from the bottom. It took over an hour of arguing though to get it straightened out. Other than that everything has been great. Spec Miata qualified under the lights tonight and will race under the lights on Friday.

EDIT: I see Froggie beat me to the tech story, lol

Not being a jerk, but what would it matter if someone posted what tires people are on? Those who could be helped by that information would just go walk up to the car on grid.

100% correct Reid, and everybody who has asked us that is here, we have told them what we are on. But I have gotten myself in trouble in the past by posting info that Drivers Services worked very hard to develop so I have just adopted the stance that I will not post any info until the race is over.

Drivers Services developed tires? Are they a special matched set?

Tom, any truth to the supps stating no bump drafting but chief steward saying he's allowing it?

I'm with Tom on this one. I am seeing a lot of trick stuff. But folks are asking i not post, because some tricks are not known throughout the paddock. Handcuffs will be off after the race. Understandable, since folks have spent a lot of time testing, and running available weekends this yeR here to figure stuff out.

I probably have learned stuff Tom doesn't know, and he knows stuff i haven't picked up.

To really figure out the tires being used one must get real close. Maybe closd enough to read the little ingraved codes. Just saying Hoosier skinny won't tell you much.

That said, look at a car like JR2's... looks just like a normal kent/DB6 with fat tires. He just drives the wheels off it.

I asked the same question and what I was told is the rule is no interclass bump drafting. Apparently at a recent race a Gen3 SRF was pushing around a regular SRF to make it faster.

we are on front 35s. Tested with radials but a general lack of experience and setup time forced us to revert to the Hoosiers.

Track was damp in areas and wet in others this morning. I haven't seen times but anything under 2:20 would be quick
