I'll be there as a spectator, and very much looking forward to it. With all those cars and top notch drivers, it has to be great. I hope they all have a satisfying and fun Runoffs (but I guess some will leave disappointed ...).

It's been called the Worlds Largest Dyno, but it more commonly goes by the name Daytona International Speedway.
ALL the greats have raced here, and not just on the oval, going around and around like so many colored socks in a dryer, but on the combined infield/roadcourse, which as we roadracers know, is a true test of a drivers ability.
This place oozes history, hell I still remember the first time I used the bathroom in the paddock...
"Man, I bet at least ONE of the Kings (Richard Petty, Kenny Roberts, Juan Carlos III, Elvis, etc...) sat RIGHT HERE on this same throne! You can't get any closer to greatness than that, no siree...

One thing about Daytona is the INSANE amount of time you are wide open.
NO OTHER track most racers have likely been on will test their piston to valve clearance like this place will (Bonneville/Salt Flats Racers excepted).
Anything can happen and usually does over the course of a race weekend; prepare to be amazed.

The Banking. Heheh, I've gotta laugh because I remember my first time too, fumbling around in the backseat of my Gramps '70 Chevy Nova, ummmm wrong "First Time"!

You get pushed way down in your car, compressed by the G's - Shorter Drivers take note - bring a phone book to slide under your butt for added height!

Any talk of "Who Will Win" is a semi-crapshoot at best.
Oh sure there are favorites, and I have my "Darkhorse" for reasons that will now be left for guessin'
The usual suspects are typically towards the front, but this track is a bit different from anywhere else, and there are tricks to be performed during Qualifying, helium in the tires, "yellow-wall" Hoosiers, movable aerodynamic devices (wait... are we NOT allowed that? O o

We'll have to wait and see, as in a little under 2 weeks from now, 2015 Champs will be in the record books.

    Good luck, Gents!

I have been on the road since Sat morning. Bringing a FF and a BSPEC car from British Columbia. Way too long of a drive. BSPEC is in back of E450 cube van pulling my FF behind it.

    Is Coop running Jake's Stohr?

Jason Bell doing 169 mph. I think I can hear him with a sinister laugh every time he pulls out on a straight stretch all the way up here in Michigan. Very impressive.

    Holy moly!
These guys are hauling the mail!

Watching them accelerate out of the hairpin is impressive. To me, more impressive than the 170 though the "D".
Most impressive showing since ARRC in 2008.

Mayer has gotten numerous hardship laps during the day. Don't know the full story behind that.

Thanks for the pic Mikey! George is very happy to be there. A real gentleman driver, experienced, and just having fun. We're pleased to have him in the car.

Good luck to everyone. Hope it's a safe close race for the leaders and everyone has a great time. The speeds and lap times are amazing. Incredible work by all the teams.

    Go Georgie and Hannu!

The haas car is the very same Piper that won the first ever big F1000 shootout at Road Atlanta (ARRC) in 2008. The car has been through many iterations since then.

Wasn't that wild Morgan kid driving your car the year Justin won in the Piper?

Cole came by and visited us this week in the paddock. Amazing how well he turned out considering he was raised around Jim, Chinky, and JR2.

Great kid and unbelievable driver. Following year we had Shane Lewis drive. Cole should be driving his old man's car at Daytona now.

Still, I am amazed at how hard teams have worked on Daytona. It is awesome for the class. Glad to have 4 Florida drivers in the race. Wish I were too.

    Greg Rice is wrenching.
Don't forget that Brian won the Runoffs in this car in 2011. We made some changes but a totally brilliant design by Don Sievenpiper.
