The Hoosier Tire US Formula 1000 Championship fueled by Sunoco makes its first visit to Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) for rounds 9 and 10. The only qualifying session was held this morning and Jeremy Hill was flying.

    Grid for round 9:
    1. Jeremy Hill-1:37.842
    2. J.R. Osborne-1:38.364
    3. Jason Slahor-1:45.320
    4. Mike Meyers-1:50.444
    5. Alex Mayer-2:04.567
    6. Dave O'Leary-no time

Alex Mayer’s Suzuki dropped a valve during testing on Friday. The team was unable to find a replacement engine and was about to pack up. That’s when David O’Leary generously offered the use of his car for the weekend so Mayer could stay in the points battle with J.R. Osborne.
Today's race is at 2:45. Follow live timing here: http://www.sccahost.com/live/

That was really cool of Dave to loan his car out to Alex, not many that would do that.

I'm surprised Alex didn't have a spare engine or maybe he did and just didn't want to do the swap?

Alex needs to stay off that 13,500 revs that's a valve killer.

    Go Jeremy!!

At the green flag, J.R. Osborne did what he does best and took the lead away from polesitter Hill. Osborne held the position for the next 7 laps but Hill was glued to his rear wing. Hill kept the pressure on until the eight lap when we was able to take over the lead. Hill had the faster car so he began building a lead. He never looked back and took the win with a 14 second advantage over Osborne. Slahor held on for the final podium spot and Meyers ran a solid race to come home fourth. Mayer's rotten luck followed him in O'Leary's car. The car dropped a valve before finishing a lap

Looks like all that prior experience lapping on the Beaver paid off today for Jeremy. Impressive times posted by he and JR. It should be a good race again tomorrow. I hope that the live video is working.

Today's race turned out to be quite a bit different. When the green flag flew, polesitter Hill jumped out to the lead with Osborne right behind him. Just 3 turns in, Hill looped his car and Osborne had no place to go. The two collided, bringing out a full course caution. Osborne's car took most of the damage. It suffered suspension damage and he lost the front wing and nosebox. Both were able to continue but were a lap down once the race restarted. Slahor inherited the lead and was never challenged for the remainder of the race. Meyers found himslef in second place and held that spot for most of the race. Meanwhile, Hill and Oborne were on a mission. Hill recovered quicker and started clicking off fastest race laps as he clawed back to the lead lap. Behind him, Osborne was turning second-fastest race laps, despite having no front wing. By lap 9, Hill had Meyers in his sights and made his move on the next lap. With only 6 laps to go he didn't have time to reel in Slahor and had to settle for second. Meyers held on for the final podium spot while Osborne finally pitted for a new nose and wing just a lap from the finish, salvaging a fourth place finish and crucial championship points. Mayer was once again unable to start the race.

Gotta give Jeremy a big congrats. He definitely was the class of the F1000 field this weekend.

Our poor little Kawi's didn't stand a chance against the big Suzuki.

I might have to write SCCA and lobby for restrictors for the Suzuki to help us keep up !(said tongue in cheek)......

I definitely would not want to take one of those rocks to the visor, or anywhere on the car. Looks like they need a rake to comb out some of those low flying meteors.

Nice work Mario. Do you have race 2 in the works also? That one should be fun to watch based on the race report.

    Default Race 2 coming

i do Dan... it's a bit time consuming and i'm scrambling for free evening time... otherwise i love the track myself... very flowing and technical with enough opportunities for dicing between cars with close lap times... Jeremy went bellow 1:37 during warm up but i think track is gonna be even faster once the old part is repaved and tires are replaced by curbs

i would also like to thank Jeremy for very satisfying and exciting race weekend... wouldn't be like that though without presence of other teams... my hat down to JR team for always being at the top of their game and pushing us to find new limits... i wish Alex was in the mix too, he always creates exciting races... very bad luck this weekend but all respect to his team for not giving up... i'm very glad to have chance to be part of this community and i hope even more teams join... make my F1 mornings even more dull

That was fun to watch. Anytime you can run JRO down then drop him from sight is a real good day.

How about that folks...Jeremy Hill...."The Father of FB".....the old man can still get it done.

See you at the Runoffs Jeremy.

The back straight is very rough. My car would bottom out in the middle of the left kink. I really like the track but i hope they repave the north section and finish the south portion before i go back. Jeremy, Congratulations on your MIS win!

I have raced cars very similar to the Hill and JRO cars.
To see what Hill does with what he has is truly mind blowing.

The Gathering of the Clan in a few weeks should be a hoot!

Great job on the weekend. It looks like you didn't have to look to far for that rear wheel kick-up. What are the chances of that thing getting captured in the rear suspension and not blowing out again. Thanks for posting the videos. Watching them is motivating me to try and get out in the shop and get a little bit of work done.
