Hi all. How many of you guys run a thermostat in your motors. If so what degree do you use. Thanks.

Thanks, it looks like 160 is it. I was out "testing" mine today in 93 degree weather and it only got up about 175. It has no thermostat.

If it runs cool, leave it alone
On a dyno test a few years ago, we got 3 hp more by increasing the thermostat from 170 to 180 degrees. There was also a corresponding increase in oil temp, but no reduction in oil pressure.
I'd go for the hotter thermostat.
X2. Not sure 160 degrees came about.
When I was running it last Sunday it was getting better the warmer the engine got. I have purchased a 180 degree and will give that a try. Thanks. It has been a long time since I owned/drove a push rod kent motored car, actually 1974 I had a Cortina GT.
