    Default Not for NP01

Tires are "dot legal" slicks. Toyo Brand

They seem to grip well, be very consistent and last quite a while.

Car is seeing 1.5 g's in testing.

    Default Toyo R888s?

Is that the "street slick" in question?

I heard they had axle problems at the 25 Hour. Then I found this picture....

Will it beat a NASA GT3 car?

1.5 Gs seems low. Has anyone run real slicks?

I love posts like this! A picture tells a thousand words eh? This was a wreck not a failure! The other NP-01 completed over 500 Laps just days after being built.

And the 3rd one didn't start? (I watched A LOT of the race, well, listened to, and watched live scoring).

I heard fast lap was 1:47 in practice. Qualifed with a 1:51 for the 25hr race. Not sure what FF time are on that course.

The 25 hour also runs the bi-pass instead of the normal turn 5 . The bi-pass is 3+ seconds faster than the normal turn 5.

I heard the same thing on that 1:47, but looking over the RM results for all the cars for the 25 Hour, I never saw better than a 1:51. S2 record is a 1:49.5 with the normal T5 at TH. Right, Ferg?

Another owner suggested that at testing at Road Atlanta last weekend they were doing 1:37's, which does not sound that quick to me.

But it's a spec class, doesn't matter as long as they're all the same...

Looks like half of the 14 on order are in California/Nevada.....
The first batch of 24 has been sold. Price just went up $5k for the kit.

Elan will put it together for the bargain rate (yes, sounds reasonable to me) of $8K.

Few options, big adjustability (three pedal positions, seat adjustment pretty good), so it sounds good.

Doesn't strategy come into play when you're running endurance rather than sprint?

The few extra seconds probably extends the tire life considerably.

They look cool, but if they only do 1:37 at Road Atlanta, that makes them slower than SRF3 and 2.5X more expensive.

It's premature to peg where the potential performance is going to be until we know a lot more about who was driving, at what point in the optimization of the chassis and tired that the test car is, etc. My understanding is it was a new, low-time owner doing that.

My guess is that if Gumby (Kenton Koch) were driving, you'd see a 1:31-33 median time, on the RR's. At least that's what I'd hope...

I think properly set up and driven the car will run just a bit better than FF times. Picking mine up Jan 8th.

So are you going to run FC and NP01?

Going to defend our Championship in the Pacific F2000 series this year and run the NP01 on the side. We will run some endours in the car with Mike Meserdino co-driving.

    Default RA times

A 1.31 to 1.33 is where we predicted the car's lap times could be at RA.

I find it seriously unlikely that the NP01 will be slower than the SRF3. More cornering g, 75+ more hp, and about the same weight. I agree with others, see how things play out.

When we ran the SCCA ESR (IMSA Lites L3 ) at Road Atlanta, we turned mid 1:27 lap times as a reference.

Very nice Tom. How many of these have they sold? What is the kit cost?

The overall construction of the car looks very robust. Drivers compartment looks spacious.

What's NASA's plan for this class?

Just answered all my questions reading the SpeedNews article linked in an above post.

Hope they sell enough of these to make a decent field of cars.

The only time from road Atlanta is from a gentleman who agrees that he was very much off pace potential of the car
In testing at Kershaw and Roebling Road the car has been between an Fc and Ff time

Also remember the NP01 is not on full race rubber
It runs DOT legal "race slicks" but not anything as sticky as Hoosiers or goodyears
