    Default Buttonwillow Major

Brett Smrz wins Saturday with a new track record. Having watched him last weekend , the kid can really drive. I wonder what he could do if he had both legs? DB-6 powered by an Ivey Pinto / Bobcat engine. (They still sound better than a Honda to me)

a 1:42, or nearly 10 sec faster than most everyone else.....

i followed him over phill hill last week end and my conclusion was "oh he11 no!"

i can not figure out how he can carry THAT much speed and not fly off track... its spooky. i don't think it matters what in the car, it could be powered by spastic hamsters and he'd still fly. he just simply does not slow down for the corners...

Schedule says it was 25A CW - that's 14 + the Mazda turn instead of the sweeper.....

    CalClub page says
    Cw25
    Q.................1 51.
    Race.............1 50.

    Where do you get 1 42 ??
don't see that time or track reference against it...
Guy is great driver and i took session off on last practice Friday
to see him enter corners and drive.
Very little ,very late and smooth braking ,lots of controlled speed thru corners.
    Very talented guy.
But let's not get carried away with fairytale numbers.

but not be surprised if thats incorrect? he was turning 1:46 all day on AR tires in cw14 i don't know what config they ran. so... could be wrong and be a 1:50 and only ~2 sec a lap faster that seems more sensible? (and adds up to the 22 sec gap to second.)

Scott Huffaker won the feature race today in his RF97, 17 second margin of victory ahead of Kirby in the Piper and Smrz in his Swift. Fastest lap of a 50.7. Great job Scott!!!!

on CW 14 he was easily running 45 or even 44 's
Because i was trying to follow him and he pulled half lap on me in 20 min.
And i was at low 46's.
Like i said very talented driver ,just want to get facts straight before someone calls Penske or Bernie.

Sorry, I've been out of touch. The Cal Club results had a bad number initially, 1:42. He ran a 1:50.3. Brett had an electrical issue Sunday and finished third with a badly misfiring engine. The track was not the same configuration that VARA ran. I think they went over Phil Hill and down to the Mazda hairpin. Put him in one of the top Hondas and he would almost certainly go quicker. The Ivey Ford may be equal on the top end, but it gets killed out of the corners.

sorry everyone my bad on adding confusion via trusting google, should not google via phone... i just assumed it was the same config and about 3 seconds on real tires seemed about right but should have been evident by the other times that didn't add up.

great video! - well, exciting video! thanks for sharing.
