Pardon the newbie question, what type of FV is it?

Nothing I recognize after looking at a lot of FV pictures over the last couple years. Might be a one off design, or a modified car.

Have the seller take the rear cowl off and look on the left side of the roll bar -- probably near the junction with the main forward upper tube. There should be an ID number ... something like .. 03-xxxx. It will tell you about where its log book was issued and you MIGHT be able to get more info that way (post it here). If the owner has the log book for the car, it will have a LOT of good information on the car - if not, you would need to try to track down the last owner that raced it (perhaps the current owner knows that already).

It would appear that it's been raced in the last 10 years, but it was likely built in the early 70's. It resembles an early D13 or a wasp - possibly a copy of one, or a rebuild of one after a major crash.

Having the log book or an 'owner string' would add significantly to the value of the car, but you REALLY need to find out who owned it when it was last raced. The ebay ad shows lots of pictures, but hardly any without the bodywork. The base chassis info will help to identify the make. Considering all, I doubt the fire system is functional, but it does indicate that it has been raced since .. oh late 80's? when the fire system became mandatory. You might also be able to get a bit more info if you can get a really good picture of the side of one of the tires .. that might provide info on when that tire was built, leading to an indication of when it was last on a track at speed.

You might also want to post over on the interchange (http://www.FormcarRegistry.com/interchange ). There are a few vee'rs over there that don't come here.

Looking further, you should keep in mind that this car might have trouble meeting newer SCCA rules like helmet to top of roll bar clearance.

What a cool car!
Sounds like a great deal for someone.
One concern would be that the Zinks and D13s of that time with the low flat front cowl tended to have very tiny driver compartments that are very difficult to enlarge.
