    Tim,

Congratulations, it was obvious it wasn't going to hang around long. That color scheme looks vaguely familiar, do you still have the Ralt RT24's?

I still have the 2 Ralt RT24s. Both are restored, one has a Judd BV. The other is complete, less engine.

I would love to sell them b/c I am hoping to buy a spice GTP car.

    Kind regards,
    Tim

Just to nit-pick, Steve Shelton was the first to race a DB4 and was a DNF when he bent a suspension push-rod while leading at the Watkins Glen pro race in 1987. R.K. Smith didn't race his DB4 til 1988 I think. I ran a DB4 for 10 years and in the last year dropped the skirts to just below the tub, made a huge increase in downforce which then required using packers on shocks, I am surprised someone has not fully taken advantage of this. Was this Peter Faucetta's car?

For those of us that aren't familiar with the new FA rules. How does lowering the skirts on the DB4 play into the gcr? Was this something changed to make them more competitive?

Nice to see someone picked this car up quick otherwise it would probably be on its way to me.

From fuzzy memory, around 2001or 02 the Atlantics with mostly metal tubs(RT4,DB4) were allowed to lower skirts from2cm above bottom of the tub to 2cm below. Previously only the Supervees like the Ralt RT5 were allowed that. Not many took advantage of the rule because things like curbs really tear up the skirts and bodywork. Back then, I had a long conversation with a local Indycar aero guy and showed him the car and rules and he went crazy with what you could do. His conclusion was that you could totally seal the tunnels and would only need small wings for balance. Also, with that much downforce, suspension would need to be changed to keep the chassis from hitting the ground. I kind of thought that that is what Stohr was doing a couple of years ago with that heavily modified DB4, but that project vanished.

Thanks for the explanation on the skirts.

Not sure what Wayne at Stohr was trying to do with that DB4 they had. I watched them struggle with it at Thunderhill about 4 years ago. They had JRO in it, car looked really slick but as I recall they had lots of issues going on.

I remember it sold not long after for real cheap.
