    Default '84 Swift DB-1 - SOLD

    UPDATED:

1984 Swift DB-1 for sale. Car is located in Copake, New York, half hour from Lime Rock.

Iron head Ford engine originally built by Sam Nelson, freshened by Arjay for races before the car was disassembled.
I last raced this car in 2008, then it was disassembled for a frame up rebuild. Stress cracks in the front of the frame that are common with this car were repaired, it was powder coated, and a new .190" aluminum belly pan was installed.
All of the suspension pieces were checked for straightness by ProTech and re--coated. One rocker arm and one A-arm were replaced.
    Radiator cleaned and pressure tested.
All four brake calipers were rebuilt and re-plated by Porter Racing.
Uprights check for cracks and bearings replaced.
Rebuilt steering rack, new Momo steering wheel.
    Carburetor rebuilt by Sam Nelson.
    Shocks rebuilt by Stimola.
Fuel cell rebuilt and foam replaced.
    Two sets of Panasport wheels.
Full set of gears in wood case.

Car is disassembled. Comes with quick Jack, chassis stands, engine stands, and a variety of other pit tools that go with the car. The car has a new SCCA logbook, along with the previous one that is almost full. I will also give the buyer the receipts for all of the work that I have had done to the car.
    Pictures coming soon.

    $9500.

You sure your chassis is #49? I have chassis 049-84 and have the homologation certificate and log books for it.

49 is the number I used on the car, I'll have to check my paperwork for the chassis number. I registered the car with the Swift owners registry when I bought it, but the registry doesn't seem to be online anymore.

Some pictures of the frame and belly pan. More to come...

All of the suspension pieces and the shift linkage shaft were re-plated, and new helicopter joints installed on the shift linkage.

    Hi-Tech header with HPC coating.

The car has a Protech adjustable front sway bar and cockpit adjustable rear sway bar.

Only parts needed to complete the care are a set of brake rotors.

The chassis number is 52. I've dug out the paperwork that came with the car, I have all four SCCA logbooks issued for the car.

Here are pictures of most of the bodywork and the engine. The engine cover and side panels came with the car when I bought it. They are solid but probably not as light as new ones would be. The nose and one of the side covers for the engine are new.

    Default Honda Candidate

No one has mentioned it, but this car, which apparently is disassembled, rebuilt, and ready to put back together, would seem to be an excellent candidate for conversion to Honda power. It looks good and the price is right.

Probably meant 0.090". That is fairly common.

the more I stare at the photo, the more I think it might indeed be .190

    and the fastener spacing?

Wasn't that a quote from 'Days of Thunder'?

    Default Floor Thickness

Yep. Saw the photo and it certainly looked quite thick. Would typically expect to see aluminum thickness in the range of .080-.090. A good place to put the weight but I'd expect to be a little over on the minimum weight.

It's definitely .190" aluminum, I bought the plate and fabricated the floor myself. I used the existing holes from the previous floor by marking them with a transfer punch, so the spacing is whatever was previously used.

Not enough of a weight difference to be a factor. Most drivers are carrying 10 or more lbs of extra weight around their waist.

been kicking about looking for a project, so i went to take a look. everything is there. all parts are new or brought back to new like condition. all the upgrades needed for a car this age have been addressed, i.e. the fuel sell. uprights are better than new. suspension perfect. mk9 clean and most importantly, the bell housing is clean and has a small minor repair. no inserts and slave looks good. the engine looks intact, but probably not a national winner. think of it as a workhorse that will give someone seat time. all parts are labeled and packaged as if it was a tamiya kit.

if you have more time than money, this is for you. if you are knowledgable about these cars, a good solid weekend will pretty much get here up on her feet. the owner, whom i don't know or have any affiliation with, seems like a solid guy. give him a shout and make yourself a deal before i do!

Its true value may be "as is/built" as rumor has it that db-1s are soon to be approved by all sanctioning bodies for VINTAGE RACING - [shhhhh - don't tell Jason but his days in the db-1 may be numbered] - a/the plan ? to obtain more entries [HSR SVRA] with NO additional engineering so on hard slicks ?

They would be legal as: db-1s - Kent Powered - steel head - R-60 Hoosiers

    .......... time will tell !!!
