    Default Tire Anouncement

    Pacific F2000/F1600 competitors,

Here is our announcement regarding tires for 2015. F2000 cars will be using the DM compound Pirelli radial. There will be a tire rule as in the past requiring the use of the Pirelli with a limit of one set of tires per weekend per car. After testing at Buttonwillow and Auto Club Speedway it is clear that these tires will do more than an entire weekend without appreciable degradation or wear. Although they were just slightly slower than the Avon bias ply control tire, there was little to no effort applied to refining the set up for the Pirelli. I believe that with a little effort given towards set up optimization there will be very little difference between the Pirelli and the Avon in lap times. If you wish to test with these tires (I would suggest that you do) you can order them from Buttonwillow Raceway. The price for these tires will be $1098 plus mounting and balancing.

For the F1600 cars I asked for input and received a lot of replies. The result was 100 percent unanimous in favor of the Toyo R888 which must be purchased through Buttonwillow Raceway. Dave Zurlinden ran these tires at Auto Club Speedway, so if you have questions regarding drivability, etc. you may want to shoot an e-mail to Dave. We used the R888 in 2013 and they are so durable and so consistent that they are a game changer. Buttonwillow Raceway is actually cheaper than Tire Rack for these tires at about $650 a set.

Brad Baytos just confirmed that Primus Race Parts will be title sponsor for the Series for 2015. Primus and Pirelli are both providing money for the series. Primus will also be doing some parts give-aways. Fast Forward has also expressed interest in some participation with some parts give-aways.

Congratulations to our competitors who took part in the non-points event at Auto Club Speedway. Prize money checks will go out this coming week. For complete results please visit our website at www.pacificf2000.com .

There will be another announcement in the coming week regarding series sign-up for the year, so watch for our next e-mail.
