    Default 2015 Schedule Announcement

The Hoosier Tire US Formula 1000 Championship has released its race schedule for 2015. New for the upcoming season, the focus will be on a single national championship series that will consist of five double weekends, plus the Runoffs finale to crown the champion.

The Championship will kick off the season at Road Atlanta in March as part of the 3-day Majors event. This weekend will feature the Formula 1000 series in stand-alone races complete with F1-style standing starts! In April, the series returns to Virginia International Raceway for the Oak Tree double Majors. Mid-Ohio appears on the schedule for the second year in a row, this time during the May Majors weekend. After a break during the month of June, the series makes its annual return to Watkins Glen for the 4th of July double Majors. The regular season will wrap up with the series debut at Pitt Race in Wampum, PA in August, a new 2.9 mile circuit, giving the teams a month to prepare for this exciting new venue.

The Series Champion will once again be crowned at the season finale during the SCCA National Championship Runoffs in September at the high banks of Daytona International Speedway.

Race 1 and 2...March 21-22...Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA
Race 3 and 4...April 18-19...Virginia International Raceway, Alton, VA
Race 5 and 6...May 30-31...Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, OH

As stated in the press release, the goal is a true national championship. We simply didn't have the support or resources to do what we did in 2014. That's why there is no longer an East coast or West coast division in the 2015 series. We were well into negotiations with Houston region for a stand-alone group at COTA when that event was cancelled. That would've been our August date and we're disappointed we had to remove it from the calendar. We expect to have it back in 2016 so we can continue to move more nationally.

Hopefully you get a good turn out for Road Atlanta as I don't see any reason for FB guys not to attend having a standing start & own run group. How many cars are you expecting for this event as I would love to see a big field.

Just over 2 weeks to go and only 9 registered. Rumor has it that Coop will be there and I'm counting on Nicholas Ortiz to make the show. That would bring it to 11.

Who else is planning on this race? Mike Beauchamp has put a lot of effort into getting us our own run group. For those of you on the fence about making the race, please come out and support the F1000 series.

Look forward to mixing it up with you all soon,
