Default Racing Series about going from club to pro racing

    Hey all,

I thought you guys might be interested in a no-budget documentary I'm working on following an SCCA member as he attempts to go from FE to the Star Mazda Championship on very little money. We're putting it up in installments as it happens.

This is the third episode and I think the most entertaining so far. If you like it you should be able to find the first two episodes in the related section on youtube:

    Hope you enjoy it.

I did! I've been doing videos for the Golden Gate Lotus Club ever since and then I met Robin and his story of the past year in FE reminded me a lot of our autox mockumentary, only his was all true. So now I'm doing this series.

Sounds ambitious and should be fun! To be clear though, you guys are planning to run the full series pulling an open trailer and entering as your own team? No track support from a team like World Speed? If that's the plan and you succeed in this endeavor you're my new hero. Good luck!

This is the series he'll be running:
    http://www.promazdachampionship.com/

He is planning on getting an enclosed trailer soon. But he'll still be towing it behind his own truck.

He sold his FE and his Lotus to pay for this new car and has enough savings to do a few of the races in the series. He then is going to try to raise $50,000 I think to make it through the rest of the series (just covering fees and travel really). But if he isn't able to raise the money he's still going to do as many of the races as he can afford and go from there.

I'm as curious as anyone to see what happens

will certainly be one for the ages if you can even make every race of the season. all the best!

I recently watched "Driven to Race" by Cargo Productions about the Star Mazda Series. It isn't very encouraging to anyone aspiring to run at that level on peanuts.

also enjoyed the lotus autocross series - thanks!

This reminds me of the days at Indy when relatively low budget racers would come to qualify for the 500. I suggest you set yourself up on one of the fund raising sites. Post a link. I'm in.

Just watched the episodes. SO FUN. Go Robin. Can't wait to see how this continues. This is why we all race I think.

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement. For sure it's going to be a huge undertaking, but I think that is what makes it exciting!

We will be revealing a few more things in the oncoming weeks, one of which being how people can get a bit more involved with our project. So stay tuned and enjoy the videos in the meantime!

Just heard that Robin had an engine seize at 120mph over the weekend. Hopefully this is just a temporary road bump. I've been keeping up on your progress Rob and will continue to do so!

Apologies for the lack of content recently - we've been focusing on the racing which has been paying off. We took our first victory at the weekend in Portland. Looking forward to the next one at Sonoma with Indycar. Hopefully we will be able to get together a camera man to film content there and put together another episode. We will also be broadcasting live on racecast.me. Thank you all for your continued support!
