Deer/Ruttenberg Enterprises. *THE* supplier of Vee parts in the 70's and 80's. Ron R died quite a number of years ago now, but Butch is still racing and active here on Apex (Butch Deer).

I was waiting for someone else to see that? I first thought it was a plug but it looks like some kind of jet?

This is exactly the kind of forlorn neglected stuff that is drawn like a magnet to my garage. I should just buy it and get it over with.

I KNEW Rosenburg just wasn't quite right.. I could feel it in my bones . But I couldn't come up with the absolute CORRECT answer. Still thought it worthwhile to remind the Vee world of just what/who DRE was .. back in the day. I would have never survived in the class without Butch and Ron... and Frank Schultheis .. and Bob Lybarger.. and Wayne Moore and a WHOLE LOT of others as well. All you 'new' .. or interested guys/gals out there - NEVER hesitate to ASK any of us for help. I am happy to say I can now be on "the other side" and provide a little info rather than always just asking for it.

DRE was in business from 1969 till 2005 when I sold it to Jim Schings ans SRacing.
We had a superflow flow bench and Stuska dyno and did a lot of development on Carbs for FV. We were Solex dealers from about 1971 until S.H. Arnholt stopped importing them in the mid 1990's. I,m guessing we modified more than 200 carbs in the heyday of FV. While the company principals were Ron Ruttenberg and Butch Deer the name DRE was a nonsence word made up to get incorporated in the state of Il. as the were numerous other companies using initials but DRE was unique.

P.S. While cleaning out an old tool box I found the file Ron used to minimize the throttle shaft screws and a Colette for holding the venturis in a lathe to open them up. We used to shape them on a lathe with a tracer. Kinda outmoted by modern CNC stuff engine builders use today

    Default DRE

I recently purchased a couple fv projects and found these decals fixed to the sides of one of the bodies. It was raced in the 80's! Very cool logo.

I am going to restore 1 of the FV's to original and I think the decals would be a great addition. The decals on my car are about the size of a paperback book. Do you have that size and would you sell me 4? Thanks.

    Default Thank You

I got the decals this morning and they are beautiful and exactly like the ones on my FV. When I finish restoring the Zeitler, I will proudly display them on the side of the body to remind people of the proud history of FV and DRE. Thanks! Some much needed Florida Sunshine coming your way!

I still use a set of DRE finned aluminum valve covers with DRE on the flat between the bolts. Always will remember Ron who used to spend hours on the phone with me when I was building my first Zink from a pile of parts in 1981. I had never looked at an fv and had no idea what I was doing. He and Butch would tell me which parts should contact each other. Two great guys.
