Default Replay XD 1080 camera problem

I have a Replay XD1080 camera and am having a problem. When I push the power on button, the red light in the back blinks for about 10 seconds then the camera shuts off. I have the camera fully charged and have reset the camera several times. I have tried to reformat the micro SD card and updated the firmware without success. Apparently the tech. support is no longer an option. Has any one had this problem? I really don't want to pitch it.

Tried RePlay cams a couple of times. Vibration of my car made the resulting video into 'wavy gravy' .

Recent finding carried over from the RaceTechnologies forum.

Windows10 doesn't format in a true FAT16 format, but apparently some clone thereof (FAT16LBA). If you're using that, and the Replay camera needs that format... this could be your problem.

Try formatting on an older Windoze machine...Windoze7, XP or Vista apparently work...

A lot of camera will format their own. Just format it in the camera if it will.

Never had any problems with that on our pinto FC but have had it tie-wrapped to the roll bar pad so maybe that's why.

The wavy gravy thing can often be caused by running with Image Stabilization left on - definitely not recommended for racecars.

I don't run Replays, so don't know if that's actually a setting you can disable?

and, FYI all, they (Replay) seem to have gone tits up.

none of the phone numbers on website work anymore, but it's still up with a few FAC's etc

the Team XD RC listed on site was just a dealer, and they don't know anything either

I still have a mini that works fine. Out of several. It's a shame because the format was great.

The company promised new models Real Soon Now but that was a year ago.

Not surprised if they are on the way out. GoPro has basically upped their game to the point where they are hard to compete against in both features and resolution. The current Hero 6 Black specs are very hard to match and now with GoPro lowering the prices of their cameras, Jeez, just try and compete. At one time it looked like the Chinese knockoffs would eat GoPro's lunch. Not anymore. At least not today. Or tomorrow.

There was a series - even this year - that had in car live broadcasting via Replay cameras I believe. Weird.

    Default No more

The one that came with the car I bought recently has had problems and no help available from Replay. I'm gonna replace it even though it still works mostly.

As for a replacement, I'm gonna go basic for now. The Ion Air Pro 3 looks good to me at $170 on Amazon. Anyone using this one?

    Thanks,

    JG

I've been super-happy with my Contour cameras; they did disappear for a while, but the company was restarted recently, hoping for more good things.

Maybe not quite as streamlined as a Replay, but still light-years better than the GoPro!

If you happen to go toward a SmartyCam, the Replay camera mounts fit the SmartyCam HD GP camera. They are smaller and offer more flexibility in mounting and tilting the camera. With the WF1, I need to be able to easily remove the camera since the center body section gets removed regularly.

Absolutely. The video was amazing but I've had to get a Hero 5 to have something that is dependable and serviceable. I don't know how the battery is on mine as it's been a while since I've installed it. I'll try to test it again next month at Barber.

The FOV was also more realistic and their mounts were pretty good.

But customer service was spotty. I had the 1st gen battery problem and it was replaced no questions asked, even though it took me longer than the warranty period to figure out what was going on. I could also stop by their office to buy things like lens covers and mounts and on more than one occasion they just gave me the stuff.

Then I bought their really cool and very expensive remote control button - which died on the second weekend, and killed the camera to boot. Instead of just replacing both, they discontinued the button, offered me the wired power switch adapter ($10 vs over $100) and made me pay 90 bucks for a refurbished camera.

Really a shame they are out. Superior produce, great mounting system.
Anyone have any experience with a Jeemak 4k 16mp camera. Looks like a
Go Pro clone, with touch screen and remote, for $40 on Amazon. Two batteries, and
    numerous mounting accessories.

There are a bunch of different Chinese GoPro knock offs out there. I bought the few I have based off of the reviews on Amazon. For $40 and positive reviews, give it a shot!

there is a nifty camera out there called a VisorCam being marketed by VisorCamUSA.com. Its a bit expensive but a true driver point-of-view and records in 1080. I've used one in a couple of races so far and the results are great. Its also being heavily used in the horse world to record competition jumping, etc.

I scored a Replay 1080mini on eBay for $80 last week. Took it to the track yesterday and it's actually better than the one I had left.

I found a source for a NEW internal battery for my Replay xd1080P. camera is on way to them. RageCams in Michigan. will let you know how it works. Best Buy can order micro SD cards only 8 gig cards available. 2 hour record time at 1080P Camera will only play
old style. new Micro SC cards are class 10. They said these are class 4. Camera is 7 years old. (sigh )

Sent my Replay XD1080P to RageCams, Sparta Michigan. They installed new internal battery, and at my request, returned old battery. Camera works fine, battery life is significantly better. Recording 100 minutes before running out of power, as opposed to 30 minutes. Price charged was less than quoted, and turnaround really quick. They received camera on Thursday, shipped out to me on Monday. I am very satisfied. They were very responsive to all my questions prior to my making the decision to send them my camera.
    I recommend them highly.
