19 wheels? So that's one set on the car, 3 spare sets, then 3 more loose wheels?

I'm assuming this thing is turn-key, ready to rock? Log book included and passes tech?

Many log books covering its long Hx.
Tech, no issues.....car is as in the photos, clean.
It is essentially 'turn key', perhaps other than fitting ones self into it .....
and, there is a set of Hoosiers R45's with one or two cycles on 'em purchased in October....they'd be a fine way to start a test day in the Spring or in Florida....

For anyone looking at this DB1. I have raced against this car and it is well prepped and very clean. It has allot of updates, the Prince lower arms make a difference in DB1 handling. If I had the money Doug I would buy your car! I hope to see you next year back on the track.

Front and/or rears ? ..... I see the fronts have anti intrusion bars any other modifications ? IF the rears, I can see how they are designed (I opine) as able to adjust camber and toe easier but why a difference in handling ? They appear to operate in the same plane ? Is the rear/lower pick-up point different and a part of a "kit" ?

I have just the front Prince arms on my DB1. I noticed a difference in the braking zone. You do not get the flexing in the arms like the stock DB1 arms. My car also seemed much more stable in high speed turns. I only have the front arm upgrade. With the rear the car would feel even better in my opinion. I have had 2 guys that know more about DB1's than I could ever know highly suggest the upgrade.

    Kazis 31....

    The 956 is beautiful.
I would rather have the 917 K out which is out of the picture, frankly speaking. I achieved 'check 'off my a bucket list when I sat in it to assist in a brake bleed.
    I have picture.

    Swift 17.

    The rear Zbars are robust.....
more appropriate for battle perhaps and it may be that the grip is better on less than smooth surfaces ... less flex....I dunno.
Very easy to do bump steer .....

The front lower control arms are also stronger....thicker aero tubing. The anti intrusion bars are nice to have.
I do believe the car has a better feel under 'heavy' braking (Summit Point ) , however, I am old and two spins away from senile.

Call Pat Prince. He built them. Very nice work.
He did the chassis as well, also very nice work.

Derek gits that Swift of his 'round Summit very well BTW.

Thanks Doug! If I could just keep the car on the track without spinning I may be able to have a decent finish... Its all part of my strategy so drivers dont get near me lol.

can anyone comment on the cost or complexity of widening the roll bar supports in order to fit a larger driver for this car?

How much room do you get?

How would it compare to other FFs for cockpit room with or without modification?

If you are asking about making the cockpit wider at the shoulders, I seriously doubt you could modify the frame around the rollbar. I have never seen it done on a DB-1. Everything is really tightly packaged in that area. If it can be done it would not be an easy thing to do.

The most common DB-1 frame mod and the only one I have seen to gain some room in the cockpit is to "bend" the middle horizontal frame rails in the cockpit, this will give you more room for your lower arms and hands and make it easier to shift and steer.

As far as comparing Swifts to other cars, DB-1s are very tight, especially in the shoulders but also for the legs and the feet. Tall drivers can fit, but not if they are built like a football player.

    HTH

PS: Doug's DB-1 is top notch and very well maintained at a race shop 5 miles from my home. Anyone interested should have no concerns about buying this car.

    Default DB1 cockpit mods

We have modified 2 DB1 chassis to fit larger than designed for drivers . The trick is to get the driver's shoulders down below the top horizontal tubes , this can be done by manipulating the junction and angles where the tubes meet around the shoulder area . Plus more room can be gained by re-profiling the fuel cell cover , re-locate shoulder harness mounts , re-profiling the top half of the NACA / radiator duct . I'll try to post pictures but if anybody is interested email me . steve@auto-spa.com
